All profits will go to the building of the canoe, the training and preparations, and the 1976 round-trip voyage to Tahiti, without instruments, duplicating conditions of ancient voyages over the longest sea route in Polynesia as closely as present knowledge permits. Our purposes are to celebrate the magnificent seafaring achievements of the Ancient Hawaiians, and to investigate by planned experiments how such feats were accomplish­ ed, and to make available all findings to the public through educational media. Ours is a non-profit foundation and our Directors serve without pay. After the voyage, the canoe will be donated to the community as a living museum for continued educational use. This project is a Hawaii Event of the U. S. Bicentennial Year, and we are grateful that it has been unanimously endorsed by all Hawaiian Civic Clubs at the recent Congress.
