Minnesota 2020 Election Results Federal: President: Joe Biden wins with a margin of 7%/230,000 votes, keeping Minnesota’s tradition of voting for the Democrat in every election since 1972 in place. res. Donald Trump (GOP) – 1,451,773; 45.26% U.S. Senate: Incumbent Tina Smith (DFL) wins reelection to a full 6-year term with a 5%/160,000 vote margin 1st CD: Congressman Jim Hagedorn (R) is reelected with a 3 point/ 13,000 vote margin. 2nd CD: Congresswoman Angie Craig (DFL) wins reelection for the first time by 9,000 votes/2% with all votes in. 3rd CD: Congressman Dean Phillips (DFL) wins reelection for the first time by 11%/43,000 votes. 4th CD: Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL) easily wins reelection to her 11th term by 34%/132,000 votes. 5th CD: Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (DFL) easily wins reelection for the first time by 39%/152,000 votes. 6th CD: Congressman Tom Emmer (R) easily wins reelection by 33 %/128,000 votes. 7th CD: Former State Senator/Lt. Governor Michelle Fischbach (R) DEFEATS Congressman Collin Peterson (DFL) by a margin of 13%/49,000 votes 8th CD: Congressman Pete Stauber (R) is reelected for the first time by a margin of 19%/73,000 votes. State Senate The State Senate stays Republican by the same 2 seat margin of 35-32. Two incumbent DFLers and two incumbent Republicans were defeated, so it’s a wash. No HHS Committee members were defeated. Note: Incumbent DFL HHS Committee member Senator Jeff Hayden (DFL- Minneapolis) was defeated in the August primary. Key Races: SD14 St. Cloud - Sen. Jerry Relph wins reelection by 1%/400 votes with a marijuana party member getting 8%/2,900 votes. SD25 Rochester - Sen. Dave Senjem wins reelection by 2.5%/1,2000 votes SD26 Rochester - Sen. Carla Nelson wins reelection by less than 2%/900 votes SD27:Austin/Albert Lea – Gene Dornink DEFEATS incumbent Sen. Dan Sparks by 13%/3,000 votes. FLIP TO GOP SD34 Maple Grove - Sen. Warren Limmer wins reelection by 1%/1,000 votes SD44 - Minnetonka – Ann Johnson Stewart wins an open Republican seat by 16%/10,000 votes FLIP TO DFL SD56:Burnsville – Lindsey Port DEFEATS Sen. Dan Hall by 6%/3,000 votes FLIP TO DFL SD58 Lakeville - Zach Duckworth DEFEATS Sen. Matt Little by 14%/6,000 votes. FLIP TO GOP STATE HOUSE The House stays DFL, but by a smaller margin of 70-64 from the current 75-59. The race is Austin is pending, but the DFL incumbent is behind. Shelly Christiansen REELECTED by 0.9%/250 votes. HD54A South St. Paul – Former Rep. Keith Franke DEFEATS Rep. Anne Claflin by 3%/700 votes. FLIP TO GOP HD 55AShakopee - Erik Mortensen DEFEATS Rep. Brad Tabke by 3%/600 votes with Legal Marijuana Now Party receiving 7%/1,700 votes. FLIP TO GOP Race to watch HD27B Austin -- Patricia Mueller leads Rep.
