Pakatan blamed over fake Selangor prince report MalaysiaKini.com July 25, 2014 A website that specialises in satires has become a focal point for netizens following a report which claimed that the crown prince of Selangor has become a Catholic. And today, a pro-Umno website accused Pakatan Rakyat of using foreign portals and websites to attack the Selangor royalty. The World News Daily Report's fake report, published yesterday, was titled 'Malaysia: Crown Prince converts to Catholicism, shocks Muslim world.' The fake report, reproduced on several blogs and making the rounds on Twitter, claimed that Tengku Amir Shah had chosen to embrace Catholicism because of his girlfriend, who is purportedly a 16-year-old Spanish model named Christina Gomez. "The only son and heir of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Tengku Amir Shah, has sent a shockwave throughout the Muslim community worldwide as what People's magazine has deemed 'the real life Romeo and Juliet story of our time'," it read, according to reports. The website termed itself as an American Jewish Zionist newspaper based in Tel Aviv dedicated to covering biblical archeology news and other mysteries around the globe. Later today, inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar warned people against spreading false rumours about the Selangor crown prince, according to The Star Online. "Such rumours spread by irresponsible parties can create unrest among the public and I have received a call from the Selangor palace strongly denying the rumour," he was quoted as saying. He added that a police report has been lodged over the matter. Linked to MB crisis Meanwhile, pro-Umno website MyKMU.net claimed that since last night and this morning, there has been a “systematic attack launched on the Selangor royalty via popular overseas websites and portals with science fiction stories and misplaced gossips”. However, it could not be ascertained if MyKMU was referring to the fake report on the crown prince. "I prefer not to mention the nature of attacks because I am worried in prolonging this slander, but those with social media accounts will know what I am talking about," said the writer. The article blamed Pakatan as being the "dalang" (conspirators) behind this due to the current imbroglio in the state in relation to the menteri besar post. "They are afraid of a direct confrontation (with the palace) because of the law, so they use the cowardly approach of using websites (to spread slander)," he added. The article also called on the authorities to act before the situation becomes even worse. "Star with those who spread these false information, especially those who do it on the pretense of ignorance and wanting clarification," it read. Copyright © 1999-2012 Mkini Dotcom Sdn.
