Its area includes five diverse regions: Roztocze, Wolynska Upland, Lublin Upland, Sandomierz Ba- sin and Podbuża Basin. They are diverse in terms of climate, history and eth- nicity, as well as the fauna and flora that occur here. The region is very popu- lar among tourists who love being close to nature, walking, actively spending time on a bike, resting by the water and all forms of qualified tourism. This is facilitated by the functioning of several hiking, cycling and Nor- dic walking routes, including the Central Roztocze Trail (195 km), which is the only route through the whole Roztocze, Krawędziowy (55 km), Szumy Trail – referred to as one of the most beautiful in this region, on the bunkers of the Molotov Line – guided by the traces of the fortification system, the Historical Trail and the Partisan Fighting Trail. In addition, an interesting south-east ar- chaeological trail leading along the most important and well-preserved forti- fications, tumuli and fortifications is being created. The near-border location of the poviat favors the development of cross-border tourism, which is why tourists are eager to use trips organized by local tourist offices to nearby Lviv or Krzemieniec Podlaski. The Tomaszów poviat distinguishes itself with various forms of nature conservation. Tourists can get acquainted with the natural richness of three landscape parks: Krasnobrodzki, Południoworoz- toczański and the Solska Wilderness, several nature reserves, among them “Nad Tanwią“ and “Czartowe Pole“ with famous noise (Szypoty), several eco- logical utility areas and over one hundred nature monuments. The heritage of these lands has a multicultural dimension, which is substantiated by nu- merous secular and sacred monuments, for example, fortified settlements belonging to Grodów Czerwień, Roman Catholic churches, Greek Catholic churches (Uniate) and Orthodox churches, former Evangelical churches and Jewish synagogues. A well-developed base of tourist services in the To- maszowski poviat is located in Susiec, Majdan Sopocki and Tomaszów Lubel- ski and its surroundings. 3 4 Tourism of the Tomaszowski Poviat TOURIST TRAILS The Central trail (length: 195 km) Szastarka – Zwierzyniec – Wzgórze Wapielnia – Bełżec – Lubycza Królewska – Huta Lubycka – Wola Wielka – Horyniec Zdrój The Partisan Fighting trail (length: 102 km) Tomaszów Lubelski – Susiec – Osuchy – Górecko Kościelne – Bidaczów Them.
