The park contains a wide variety of sports facilities, attractions for children and parts of the park are designated as a Local Nature Reserve. Cassiobury Park is one of Watford’s most popular attractions receiving around 800,000 visits per year and hosting a number of popular sporting and entertainment events. By Foot From Watford town centre: From the top of the High Street (where the pond is) follow Rickmansworth Road (A412) past the Town Hall, Watford Colosseum and The Peace Hospice. By Bike A road-free cycle route links the town centre to the park (same directions as above). The Ebury Way cycle and footpath between Rickmansworth and Watford is within 2km of the park and can be reached by cycling down the old Ascot Road, crossing Rickmansworth Road and then along Gade Avenue. The Grand Union Canal which runs along the western border of the park provides a link to Croxley and Rickmansworth in the south and North Watford, Abbots Langley and Kings Langley to the north. By Car There is one official car park for Cassiobury Park at the end of Gade Avenue near the bottom of Cassiobury Park Avenue (WD18 7LG and WD18 7LH are the nearest postcodes). Parking is free but limited, with 78 spaces plus six more reserved for blue badge holders. In the summer an extension is opened to enlarge the carpark, however on good weather weekends this will often be full. The Car Park opens at 6am and closes at 9pm when a barrier rises to restrict access. You can however exit the car park until at least 10pm – the out barrier lowers as you drive up to it. Between 2 and 4pm on sunny weekends the Car Park is likely to be full. The roads around the park are also likely to be very busy with parked cars and people looking to find somewhere to park so it is suggested you park some distance away to avoid getting stuck in an uncomfortably hot traffic jam. Signs suggest the town centre car parks, which charge to use them, as alternatives. The nearest of these to Cassiobury Park are the Town Hall car park (closed Mon-Fri until 4pm), Avenue car park, and Gade car park (NB this is not the one in Gade Avenue). Watford car parks On-street parking to the north and south of the park is free but restrictions apply. A sign on the approach to the car park forbids coaches access to the car park – it is relatively small and when partially filled a coach may not have sufficient room to manoeuvre. There should be space to stop a coach on-road close to the car park entrance on Gade Avenue or at the bottom of Cassiobury Park Avenue. By Tube Cassiobury Park is a 2 minute walk from the Watford Metropolitan line station on the London Underground network. Exit the station onto Cassiobury Park Avenue and turn right, after about 150 metres turn left onto Shepherds Road – the park is straight ahead of you. By Train Watford Junction (1.3 miles) and Page 2/3 Cassiobury Park- Watford Watford High Street (2.1 miles) are the two closest overground stations. By Bus The 352 and W30 services stop outside Watford Metropolitan line station which is a two minute walk from the park.
