2021 Marching Mizzou Summer Newsletter

2021 Summer Newsletter As of 8/4/21 Welcome to Marching Mizzou Marching Mizzou: On behalf of Dr. Brian Silvey, Director of Bands, Dr. Christian Noon, Assistant Director of Bands, and Dr. Pete Zambito, Assistant Director of Athletic Bands, congratulations and welcome to the 136th edition of Marching Mizzou. You have made a brilliant choice to not only attend Mizzou, but become or continue to be a member of Marching Mizzou, a time- honored tradition very special to Mizzou, our game atmosphere in Memorial Stadium, and anywhere we have the opportunity to perform. Welcome to our band family and to an organization that has the capability to change your life and define your collegiate experience at Mizzou. At the core of Marching Mizzou is a long-standing tradition of excellence and we work hard to not only uphold that tradition, but build upon it each year. Our Marching Mizzou Leadership Team stands ready to guide you through our season in the capacity we are able to move forward under the direction of the University of Missouri in their “Show Me Renewal” plan aligned with guidelines from the Boone County Department of Health and input from medical experts at MU Health Care, the official sponsor of Marching Mizzou. We stand committed to the health of our students, faculty, and staff as we move forward in a safe and thoughtful manner to reunite Marching Mizzou as one ensemble, recalibrate ourselves after such a trying year during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to hopefully retake Faurot Field in Memorial Stadium to bring all Tiger fans in attendance our pageantry of Game Day they have grown to love and expect from Marching Mizzou. As you read through our 2021 Marching Mizzou Summer Newsletter and prepare for Band Camp in August and our upcoming season, please note our continued effort to “go green” by not only bringing this letter to you electronically, but by also continuing to have our Marching Mizzou Band Camp registration process online. Note that as we approach the start of band camp in August this “living document” will be updated with further information as it becomes available from the University of Missouri, our School of Music, and Mizzou Athletics, and forwarded to you after each update. If you are living on campus, please complete our Marching Mizzou Band Camp Registration Form via the link below by Thursday, July 8 so we can coordinate your early move-in process with Residential Life before the sign-up process for move-in opens on July 12. If you plan to live off campus, please also complete this registration as soon as possible or at the latest by Monday, August 2 so we have your needed information prior to the start of our band camp registration. This registration is only with our Band Office and will help us prepare for the start of our season. On page 4 of this newsletter you will find information about how to register for the course (required), which can be done through your university student account at http://myzou.missouri.edu.
