PRESS RELEASE ESWATINI Bankers Association (EBA) has developed and unveiled a website which goes live today (Monday 10 August 2020). The website address is www.eba.org.sz The website seeks to outline the association’s objectives and enhance its educational role in the banking industry. EBA Chairman Zakhele Lukhele said the website features topics on financial inclusion, fraud awareness and market conduct. He said the website outlined the important role played by member banks in the fight against fraud. “The EBA website outlines how to prevent ATM fraud, account details scams, safe use of bank cards, digital banking (internet and mobile banking) and online purchasing fraud,” he said. He further mentioned that it outlines what member banks do to enhance financial inclusion by offering appropriate financial services at affordable cost to disadvantaged and low income segments of society. The website also highlights the fact that EBA monitors market behaviour with regards to Monetary Policy, Interest Rates, Regulatory policies, amongst other aspects. The “News” part of the website will provide stakeholders and web visitors with news on EBA initiatives. “The website will be updated with new and fresh material as and when necessary so that it becomes a source for material and information on the banking sector,” said Lukhele. He mentioned that the website was interactive in that there was a provision for visitors to send their messages or comments and get feedback. “The website caters for all EBA objectives to educate, inform and interact with the public,” he said. EBA member banks are Swaziland Building Society, First National Bank, Standard Bank, Eswatini Bank, Nedbank, and Farmers Bank. EBA is an organisation that focuses on partnering towards a strong financial sector that supports economic growth. EBA promotes strength, growth and sustainability in Eswatini’s economy by encouraging efforts to minimise fraud. It seeks to; Encourage and promote fair, proper and orderly conditions in the operation of the banking industry consistent with competitive conditions in the industry; Provide a forum for consideration of matters of policy and mutual interest concerning members; To liaise as necessary with all authorities including Government , the Central Bank of Eswatini, other Financial Institutions, Public Bodies, Authorities and Officials, Press and general public to further the objects of the Association and convey to them views of the Association on matters affecting the activities of the banking industry. .
