Southern Company Gas Opportunity Corrosion Technician - Fulltime We are recruiting entry level and experienced Corrosion Technicians various operating companies in various geographical areas of Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Illinois. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Engineering degree not required Valid driver’s license NACE CP1 (Cathodic Protection Tester) preferred US Citizen or Permanent Resident – sponsorships not available KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: MS Office – basic proficiency Attention to detail Ability to read and understand codes, standards, and procedures Mathematics aptitude – intermediate proficiency Problem solving skills Electrical knowledge preferred Geographic Information System (GIS) preferred JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible to perform required readings (i.e. annual test points, isolated services, casings, bonds, foreign crossings) in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures. Responsible for timely cathodic protection troubleshooting (i.e. low systems, shorted conditions) Responsible for timely creation of remediation work orders (i.e. install anodes, clear short, install insulator, repair / replace test station). Follows through with necessary departments to ensure timely completion. Monitors corrosion control records to ensure compliance Provides relevant support / inspection for cathodic protection needs on engineering / construction projects Generates reports as needed Participates as needed in regulatory audits to ensure success Corrosion Technician– Fulltime Locations include (but may not be limited to) the following: Glenwood, Illinois Brevard, Florida Chattanooga, Tennessee Gwinnett, Georgia Augusta, Georgia Marietta, Georgia Riverdale, Georgia Corrosion Technicians are responsible for the surveys, design, installation, and maintenance of corrosion control systems to protect the investment of plant facilities, prolong facility life, reduce future leaks caused by corrosion, and meet regulatory requirements. Technicians support a specific Reporting Center within the operating territory. Job responsibilities include actively supporting corrosion control related activities associated with maintenance and new construction projects, recordkeeping and documentation of survey results, protected area maps, or corrosion related information, review of engineering designs, effective communication and direction to local Operations and Maintenance groups, other Pipeline Integrity personnel, and other key stakeholders. Duties include annual cathodic protection surveys, bi-monthly rectifier and critical bond inspections, interference testing, troubleshooting and analysis of protected areas.
