As you read through these pages you will find a lot of information that will be helpful as you navigate your decision. As president I can promise you that we make every effort to provide an education that will equip you to have a meaningful and successful future in a campus environment where you will thrive. HISTORY Cornerstone University is an independent, evangelical Christian institution. The university (formerly Grand Rapids Baptist College and Seminary) began as an evening Bible institute in the educational wing of the Wealthy Street Baptist Church on Jan. 7, 1941. Two hundred and eleven students enrolled in Bible courses designed to make them more effective lay workers in local churches. The response to the program and the expressed desire of many students to enter into ministry led to the inauguration of a day school
