IALOMITA COUNTY THE LAND OF MY DREAM SHORT DESCRIPTION OF OUR AREA Feteşti is a city and municipality in Ialomiţa County, Romania with a population of 33,197. It is located in the Bărăgan plain, on the Borcea branch of the Danube. Fetesti has the second largest population in Ialomita, after Slobozia, and it is considered to be a middle- sized Romanian city. In 1895, the was built across the Danube to Cernavodă. A newer one was built in the 1980s as part of the Bucharest-Constanţa highway. The settlement of Fetesti was first mentioned in the year 1528, in a document released by the ruler of Wallachia, Radu de la Afumati. In 1868 Fetesti became a commune, in 1965 a city, and 30 years later, in 1995, it achieved the status of municipality. In the course of time, Fetesti has evolved from a commercial village to a very important transport knot and industrial center, vital to the Romanian economy. The city is composed of four neighbourhoods: Fetesti-Oras, Fetesti-Gara, Buliga and Vlasca. Fetesti- Gara has a population of over 20,000 inhabitants, and it is considered to be the center of Fetesti. TOURISTIC OBJECTIVES THE DANUBE RIVER with its two branches Borcea and old Danube THE TOURISTIC HARBOUR TOWN CATHEDRAL CENTRAL STADIUM a place of tranquility and peace CHILDREN’S PARK FIRST LONGEST BRIDGE IN EUROPE OVER THE DANUBE TOURISTIC OBJECTIVES IN THE AREA Neo-eneolitic Tell from Borduşani-Popină- getic culture -natural reservation Vestiges of indigenous peoples, with a rich ceramic culture feature called - Culture Dridu, spread over a wide area of the Romanian territory. Amara Lake Special Protection Area There were found in the Lake Amara: 54 species of birds The main tourist spot of the county are Amara Spa, situated 7 km away from Slobozia known as medicinal mud and mineral waters used in chronic rheumatism. “Ionel Perlea“ Memorial House It is in the administration of the UNESCO Cultural Center “Ionel Perlea" - Ialomita.). On 21 November 1983 it entered the exhibition circuit, and in 1996-1997 itwas restored by Ialomita County Museum. IALOMITA COUNTY MUSEUM The Ethnography and ethnographic exhibition Neolithic Geto-Dacian culture, medieval ethnography: objects that speak of Ialomita’s culture, occupations, numismatics: coins discovered in the City of Floc. Collections of archeology: collections depicting local history, archaeological remains of Gumelnita and Boian culture IVth century AD. The heritage museum has over 20,000 pieces.
