Fraguas in the past and found them all to be excellent. I recently purchased this 345 page softcover book Grappling Masters by Jose M. Fraguas) for a bargain price on . This volume is absolutely fantastic because it has in depth interviews with some of the most famous experts in the art of grappling, which includes wrestling, Judo and Jujitsu. In fact, I am proud to mention that I have attended numerous training seminars with some of these instructors. These include Rorian Gracie, Rickson Gracie, Frank Shamrock, and Wally Jay.One of the many things I like about this book is that besides the great interviews, they also show some of their grappling techniques after each interview. There are 22 grappling masters interviewed in this text and include the following: Bas Rutten, Carlos ldquo;Caiquerdquo; Elias, Carlos Gracie, Jr. Eric Paulson, Frank Shamrock, Gene LeBell, Gerson Sanginitto, Gokor Chivichyan, Helio Gracie, Jean Jacques Machado, Marco Ruas, Mark Kerr, Matt Furey, Oleg Taktarov, Reison Gracie, Renato Magno, Rickson Gracie, Rigan Machado, Rorian Gracie, Royler Gracie, Wallid Ismael and Wally Jay.Most of the black and white photographs are clear but as anyone involved in the martial arts knows, one cannot learn complex and advanced skills without actual hands-on training with an instructor. I found this book enlightening and highly informative. It is like sitting down with a master who answers all your questions. Not only great interviews but packed with great pictures that I've never seen before and I've been following MMA for ten years. I thought this book would be disappointing because I've never heard of it before but when a received the book at my door it blew me away! This one comes up a bit short.In the author's defense, most of the BJJ Legends interviewed are fine practitioners, but they are not necessarily deep tinkers or a "great interview"...Three stars because I believe that almost all of these types of books need to be read by serious Martial Artists.Most BJJ guys will like this, and practitioners of others arts will learn a different take.Karate Masters is his best, this is a 3 Star result.
