“Comfortably Numb” - Pink Floyd Key: D Major

“Comfortably Numb” - Pink Floyd Key: D Major Chords Used: Bm: x24432 (or 7-9-9-7-7-7) A: x02220 (or 5-7-7-6-5-5) G: 320033 (or 3-5-5-4-3-3) (F#): 2xxxxx Em: 022000 (or x-7-9-9-8-7) D: xx0232 (or x-5-7-7-x-x) C: x32010 (or x-3-5-5-x-x) Intro: Bm (Bm) A Hello, is there anybody in there? G (F#) Em Bm Just nod if you can hear me; is there anyone at home? (Bm) A Come on, now, I hear you're feeling down. G (F#) Em Bm Well, I can ease your pain; get you on your feet again. (Bm) A Relax, I need some information first. G (F#) Em Bm Just the basic facts: can you show me where it hurts? D A There is no pain, you are receding. D A A distant ship smoke on the horizon. C G You are only coming through in waves. C G Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying. D A When I was a child I had a fever. D A My hands felt just like two balloons. C G Now I got that feeling once again; C G I can't explain, you would not understand, this is not how I am. A C G D (hold this into the solo) I have become, comfortably numb. Solo: D - A – D - A | C - G - C – G A C G D I have become, comfortably numb. (Bm) A Ok (ok ok) just a little pinprick G (F#) Em Bm There'll be no more <AAHHHHH> but you may feel a little sick. (Bm) A Can you stand up? I do believe it's working – good.... G (F#) Em Bm That'll keep you goin' through the show, come on it's time to go. D A There is no pain, you are receding. D A A distant ship smoke on the horizon. C G You are only coming through in waves. C G Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying. D A When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse D A Out of the corner of my eye C G I turned to look but it was gone C G I cannot put my finger on it now, the child is grown, the dream is gone. A C G D (hold this into the last solo) I have become, comfortably numb. (hold that D from before just once) then the ending is this: Bm – A – G – D – Em – Bm (end on Bm) *The assumption at the end during the fade out would be to repeat the above Bm theme over and over, still ending on Bm. It's basically the verse, with the only exception being the “hint” at using the D Major chord (the relative of Bm) instead of the F# note itself. It's the same principle. .
