Regulatory status for using RFID in the EPC Gen2 (860 to 960 MHz) band of the UHF spectrum 13 March 2021 This document provides an unofficial overview of UHF allocations for passive RFID within the 860 to 960 MHz band worldwide, including: • Country name & Status: all GS1 member countries as well as major, non-member countries – currently a total of 125 countries OK Allocations in 81 countries NA Information not available for 44 countries • Frequency: allocations authorised for RFID applications, specifically within the 860 to 960 MHz band of the UHF spectrum • Power: maximum wattage allowed for RFID, calculated as ERP (Effective Radiated Power) or EIRP (Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power) • Reader-tag communication Technique: FHSS: Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum / LBT: Listen Before Talk / ETSI: per ETSI 302 208 • Regulator: contact details of respective national regulatory body A note on the “upper band” (915-921 MHz) of CEPT REC 70 03 / ETSI EN 302 208: Pursuant to Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2018/1538 of 11 October 2018, interrogator transmissions of 4 W ERP are only permitted at centre frequencies 916.3 MHz, 917.5 MHz and 918.7 MHz. Note that some EU member states may implement even fewer RFID channels – or no channel at all – within the “upper band” of CEPT REC 70 03 / EN 302 208. New information added since the previous (July 2020) update: Vietnam has been updated per Circular 46/2016/TT-BTTTT to reflect 918-923 MHz at 0.5 W ERP, with a license required for higher power; additionally, 920-923 MHz at 2 W ERP is allocated exclusively for licensed intelligent traffic systems / nonstop electronic toll collection (ETC) systems. Morocco has been updated per Decision ANRT/DG/N°07/2020 to include the 865.6-865.8 MHz channel at 2 W ERP. Submission of updated allocation information and errata should be communicated to Craig Alan Repec ( [email protected] ) at GS1 Global Office.
