I have held senior managerial posts in National Governing Bodies and have experience working within National Olympic Committee projects during both winter and summer Olympiads. I would describe myself as a performance-focused coach with demonstrable experience in an operational sports environment and a passion for player and coach development. Experience Director of Coaching Chester RUFC 2012 – Present I am Head coach of this National League team and the overall lead for player, coach and volunteer development within the club. This season, I have achieved promotion to National 2 North following a playing department overhaul and development of a whole club strategic plan. I have also led colleagues on the executive committee through a full governance restructure of the club and also its wider relationships with both governing bodies, local CSP and Sport England. Other elements of my role include: the wider development of a VIK programme with University of Chester worth £20,000 per annum which has allowed the club to benefit from increased expertise and manpower. Player Development Manager Hockey Wales 2011 - 2012 Whilst in this role I was the l e a d manager for all International Teams in Wa l e s where the objective was to achieve Commonwealth Games qualification. My department provided support to the senior men and women’s teams. I was also involved in: Redevelopment and restructure of the Player Pathway in Wales to achieve the Vision 20:20 objectives of 4 GB Olympians by 2020 and Wales in Top 10 in Europe. This included large stakeholder management skills from board level through to linking with clubs and schools. Creation of a player syllabus looking at life skills, nutrition education, strength & conditioning including educational resources. Working with G B H o c k e y , a r o u n d approach to athlete nutrition and training for all N a t i o n a l Age Grades ( NAG) athletes in UK. This included working with colleagues in England & Scotland to develop resource and training systems. Development approach to holistic player pathway and allowing key principles of World Class system development Induction of TOPS for each NAG athlete. This through defined principles of athletic excellent and elite performance characteristics. Athlete Engagement Manager Team GB 2010-2011 This was a key role in the run up to the 2012 London Olympics that involved working closely with the Director of Sport to d e v e l o p the British Olympic Coaching programme in thirty-three different sports. Whilst in this post, I developed my skills in management, coaching and maintaining stakeholder relationships to achieve the organisation goals for the Olympic cycle. During this time I: Part of a multi disciplinary t eam to ensure the athletes lens is at the heart of everything the BOA does, this was by working c l o s e l y with the Chair of the BOA Athletes' Commission and BOA Management, to plan the a g e n d a for the BOAAC. Acted as the Commission 'secretariat' for meetings building up to London 2012. Continued to working directly with t h e ath let es and t h e i r support network to build relationships. This required liaison with NGBs at Performance Director level by attending training, competitions and events. Performance Manager England Rugby Football League (RFL) 2008-2010 Whilst at the RFL, I was responsible for athlete management and systems development for maintenance and management of athlete’s workloads, particularly in an international setting. Key aspects of the role included: Ensuring and managing processes so that the inter- disciplinary team was working together and performing to the highest level. Establishing and leading the Performance Partner Scheme to benefit athletes by setting up commercial partners from kit suppliers to supermarket schemes. This partnership equated to an annual VIK for athletes of £300,000 per annum. During the Rugby League World Cup in 2008 acting as Tour Performance Manager for all teams in Australia and managing the support staff. Rugby Executive Premiership Rugby Ltd. 2007-2008 As a Rugby Executive, I was based in the Rugby Department managing Academy systems and support services for athletes and coordinating the Guinness ‘A’ League and Middlesex 7s tournaments. Other duties included: Supporting the RFU in the development of the Elite Coach development program. Assisting during the implementation of the “100% Me” anti doping campaign. Managing fixture lists on a seasonal basis, ensuring effective document management and the communication of all information to member clubs. Coordinating the Premiership Team Managers and Directors of Rugby meeting on a bi-monthly basis. and liaising with the commercial team. Technical Assistant Rugby Football Union (RFU) 2006 – 2007 This role involved maintaining effective communication with over 200 people across the country directly related to Rugby Discipline. My duties included: Updating Constituent Body records on a monthly basis which involved reviewing and uploading judgments. Correlating information in accordance with data protection principles, ensuring sensitive case handling and effective management of changes to the database. Working closely with the Website Manager and the IRB to promote and develop www.rfu.com/discipline as the focal point for information and training for over 1,000 people connected with discipline throughout the world. Providing technical advice and secretarial support to national RFU Disciplinary Panels. 2 Sub - Lieutenant HM Royal Navy 2002 - 2006 I served throughout three establishments and two ship drafts during my time in the senior service. Initially I joined as a Naval rating however, with my progression and leadership skills I was selected for commission into the officer corps. Instruction officer for NATO working for US command delivering English to partnership for peace countries, coupled with a training officer role at HMS Raleigh where I was responsible for welfare, morale and development of 32 new entrants into the Royal Navy.
