Tie Break Tens is everything you love about tennis, but with every match staged over a first- to-ten point tie-break. It is fast-paced, fun, and super-competitive. Haven’t got time for a full set? Tie Break Tens is for you. Who is playing? The first Tie Break Tens event, was staged at the Royal Albert Hall on 5th December, and featured Andy Murray, Tim Henman, David Ferrer, John McEnroe, Kyle Edmund and Xavier Malisse who qualified from the Champions Tennis tournament, which started on 2nd December and ran throughout the week at the Royal Albert Hall. How long will Tie Break Tens last? It was staged on the evening of Saturday 5th December, at 6pm, with ten Tie Break Tens matches played back-to-back. The evening lasted approximately three hours. What are the rules? Normal tennis rules apply, except each match is played over a first-to-ten tie- break, in which a two-point lead is required (10-8, 11-9 etc). There will be two groups of three players, and we will use a round-robin format in each group. The top two players in each group after the round-robin matches have taken place will advance to the semifinals, and the winners of the semifinals, to the final. There will also be a 3rd/4th place play-off match for the losing semifinalists. What is at stake? The winner of the tournament will receive $250,000. Do you plan to stage other events in the future? Yes. The format was launched at The Royal Albert Hall, and further locations will be announced in the coming months. How will you decide who plays in those events? Any player who has been, or is currently a Top Ten ranked player, is eligible to be invited to Tie Break Tens.
