Invictus Games Farewell Function

RSL Media Release 3 September 2014 Invictus Games Farewell Function The Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL) is honoured to announce that the RSL New South Wales Branch will host a farewell function for the wounded and injured athletes travelling to London UK to participate in the Invictus Games. This will be held at the Hyde Park Inn, 271 Elizabeth Street Sydney commencing at 6.30pm today Wednesday 3 September. RSL National President Rear Admiral Ken Doolan said “I encourage all Australians to support and cheer on these remarkable Australians as they compete against the wounded, injured and ill service personnel and former service personnel from many nations.” “Each of the 21 former members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the 15 still serving has had to overcome enormous odds since being wounded, injured or sustaining illness while in defence of our nation. All members of the RSL hope that the uplifting experience of the Invictus Games will aid and speed their recovery.” The RSL is proudly sponsoring the 21 former members of the ADF as well as a personal supporter of each of these wounded or injured athletes. The Invictus Games team leaves Australia later this week so as to allow time for recuperation and preparation for the Games which commence in London on Wednesday 10 September.
