Proposed itinerary* Date Activities Day 1 (U.S.) Leave for China. Day 2 – Beijing Arrive in Beijing at the end of the day and check into hotel. Day 3 – Beijing Morning: visit the Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square. After lunch: tour the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Longevity. Day 4 – Beijing Morning: observe Tai Chi exercises in a park and witness a Baiyun Daoist ceremony. After lunch: visit the Cathedral of Beijing and Dashalan Market Street. Dinner: Beijing Roast Duck. Day 5 - Beijing Discover the Great Wall, Spiritual Road, and the tombs of the Ming Dynasty emperors. After lunch, leave for the airport to fly to Xi’an. Check into hotel in Xi’an in the evening. Day 6 – Xi’an Spend the morning with the Terracotta Soldiers. After lunch: visit the Bathing Pool of the Tang Dynasty Royal Family and the Museum of Chinese Inland Folk Culture. Dinner: Chinese dumplings. Day 7 – Xi’an Explore the Huajuexiang Mosque and Huimin Jie, the “Street of the Moslems.” End of the afternoon: fly to Chongqing. Day 8 - Chongqing Morning: General Stilwell & World War II Museum and Hongyandong Market Place. After lunch: Huaqing Buddhist Temple and Nanshan Park. Dinner: Hot Pot (Chongqing specialty). Day 9 - Chongqing Morning: drive to Leshan and visit the Giant Buddha and Lingyun Buddhist Temple. After lunch: visit the Taoist Lingbao Pagoda, then drive to Chengdu. Day 10 – Chengdu Morning: visit downtown Chengdu. After lunch: visit Jinli, the traditional marketplace. Dinner: Chen Mapo Tufu (Chengdu specialty) Day 11 – Chengdu Spend the morning at the Panda Nursery. After lunch: visit the Wuhou Temple and local shopping area.
