Platoon chief Rick Ingram said the fire occurred in the garbage chute area in the basement and firefighters dragged it outside and extin- News Advertiser • guished the fire. No evacuations were necessary, but he noted most people were already outside anyway. “The smoke that came from it came up quite a few floors and they had to ventilate,” Mr. Ingram said. No one was injured, but a superintendent was checked out and cleared for smoke inhalation. The damage is estimated to be about $5,000 and the cause is under investigation.
