A delicious and weighty wine made with Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. A steal in comparison to vintage Champagne… Riesling, Stargazer, Coal River Valley, Tasmania, Australia, 2015 £70.00 For me, Tasmania is producing some of the best wines around just now. This is a beautiful example of a classic cool climate Riesling. Slightly oily palate with soft citrus notes and a bracing finish. ‘Gala 3’, Luigi Bosca, Mendoza, Argentina, 2014 £45.00 While not often as popular as the red wines, Argentina makes some fabulous whites. This blend of Viognier, Chardonnay and Riesling is one of my favourites. Lovely & aromatic with a luscious feel and clean, fresh finish. Pinot Noir, Ataraxia, Hemel-en-Aarde, South Africa, 2015 £69.50 I am a serious Pinot Noir fan and this is a serious Pinot Noir from an outstanding maker in Kevin Grant. Bright cherry fruit giving way to an earthy, savoury finish. Just wonderful with duck and light game. Cabernet Franc, Crossroads Wines, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand 2012 £49.00 One of my favourite grapes from a region best known for using it in blends. Classic Cab Franc notes of dark berries, silky tannins and spicy oak. ‘Mas de la Rouvière’, Domaine Bunan, Bandol, France 2013 £66.00 Classic rich blend of Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache from the south east of France. This has great depth of flavor, chewy fruit and a long, elegant finish. Etienne’s Choices Chardonnay ‘Clonale’, Kooyong, Mornington Penninsula, Australia, 2016 £50.00 A beautiful nose with some fresh notes of lime, green apple, peach and some toasted brioche as well. The palate reveals aromas of almonds, nuts and some ripe stone fruits such as nectarine. A very nice alternative to a classic white Burgundy. Sauvignon Blanc ‘Wild’, Greywacke, Marlborough, New Zealand, 2015 £64.00 The nose is delicate with fresh almond as main aroma with hints of ripe stone fruits as white peach and melon. On the palate there is a beautiful freshness balanced with the oakiness of the wine which brings out all those subtle fragrances of vanilla and almonds. Pinot Noir, Tolpuddle, Coal River Valley, Tasmania, Australia 2016 £105.00 Cherry, plum, smoky, spices on the nose to introduce this Pinot Noir from Tasmania. On the attack the palate is outstanding, ripe tannins, earthy and juicy in the same time. Fruit character of the wine on the finish. A must for Pinot Noir lovers ! Saint-Joseph ‘Les Equis’, Maxime Graillot, Northern Rhône, France, 2014 £64.00 One of the best appellation in the Rhône valley for me. The nose is marked by blueberries and blackberries aromas. The palate is elegant with fine tannins and fresh cracked black pepper finish. Organic Wine! Muscat de Beaumes de Venise, Domaine de Durban, Southern Rhône, France 2014 £60.00 Made with 100% Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains, this sweet wine will reveal those notes of lycchee, rose, fresh apricot and peach. Light and delicate on the palate, it will perfectly match your cheese plate or fruity dessert. 3 WINES BY THE GLASS Champagne 125ml Bottle Lombard ‘Hotel du Vin Cuvėe’, Brut NV 12.5% 9.95 56.00 Perrier-Jouët ‘Grand Brut’, NV 12% 12.50 72.00 Lombard 1erCru Rosé’, Brut NV 12% 10.95 70.00 White 175ml 375ml Bottle Tempranillo Blanco 7.75 17.00 30.00 Bodegas Azabache, Rioja, Spain, 2014 13% Chenin Blanc 7.00 15.50 28.00 The Liberator, Stellenbosch, South Africa, 2017 14% Viognier ‘Mas la Chevalier’ 7.50 16.25 28.50 Laroche, Languedoc, France, 2016 13% Chardonnay/Colombard ‘Hotel Du Vin Selection’ (Unoaked) 5.95 12.50 21.50 Domaine Duc du Chappelle, Pays d’Oc, France, 2016 13% Gewürztraminer ‘The Beautiful Lady’ 9.00 19.50 37.00 Nederburg, Paarl, South Africa, 2016 13% Sauvignon Blanc 9.45 21.00 39.00 Wairau River, Marlborough, New Zealand, 2016 13% Roero Arneis ‘Serra Lupini’ 9.50 20.50 38.00 3 Angelo Negro, Piemonte, Italy, 2016 13.5% Red 175ml 375ml Bottle Appassimento ‘Edizione Oro’ 7.25 17.00 30.00 Casa Virionia, Puglia, Italy 2015 14.5% Saumur Rouge (Cabernet Franc ) 7.50 17.25 32.00 La Cave de Saumur, Loire Valley, France, 2015 12,5% Syrah ‘The Francophile’ 7.75 17.00 28.00 The Liberator, Stellenbosch, South Africa, 2015 13% Tempranillo ‘Wine and Roses’ 7.25 16.50 30.00 Labastida, Rioja, Spain, 2016 13% Cabernet/Merlot ‘Hotel Du Vin Selection’ 5.95 12.50 21.50 Domaine Duc du Chappelle, Pays d’Oc, France, 2016 13% Pinot Noir 10.50 22.75 42.00 Pierre Bourée, Burgundy, France, 2015 13% Pic Saint Loup (Grenache/Syrah) 8.25 18.50 34.50 Sainte Lucie d’Euzet, Languedoc, France, 2016 13% Rosé 175ml 375ml Bottle Château d’Astros 7.95 17.50 33.00 Côtes de Provence, France, 2016 12.5% All of above available as 125ml on request 4 WINES BY THE GLASS Seasonal Selection The below selection is poured using the Coravin wine preservation system which allows wine to be poured without pulling the cork. White 125ml Bottle Pedro Ximénez ‘Fermentation Lenta’, Ximénez-Spínola, Jerez, Spain, 2015 15.00 78.00 A unique winery in the entire frame of Jerez dedicated exclusively to the grape Pedro Ximénez since 1729. Raisin and prune notes are wrapped in toasty oak. A surprisingly soft palette despite relatively high alcohol. The finish is of delicate honey, dried fruits and earthy tones. Sauvignon/Chardonnay, Château Marsyas, Bekka Valley, Lebanon, 2013 12.25 62.00 For me, this is like an old fashioned style of Sancerre where there is an influence of oak aging. The fruit is led by green apple and apricot with a touch of honeysuckle. The oak gives a slight creamy character with fresh finish. A great fish wine ! Albarino ‘Organistrum’, Martin Codax, Rais Baixas, Spain, 2015 10.75 52.50 A lightly oaked Albarino from one of the best producers in the area. Apple and pear flavours dominate the palate with a lingering citrus and herbal finish. Riesing ‘Cuvée Frédéric Emile’, Trimbach, Alsace, France, 2008 21.00 114.00 We LOVE Riesling and there are ver few better than this example from the Grand Cru sites behind the Trimbach winery and family home. Fine, dry, mineral, focussed and utterly delicious. An amazing glass of wine. Condrieu ‘La Petite Côte’, Yves Cuilleron, Rhône Valley, France, 2015 18.50 100.00 A beauty of a Viognier from it’s rightful home on the sl opes of the Northern Rhône Valley. Full of juicy peach, apricot and pears with fine minerality and a long citrus finish. Chardonnay ‘Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch’, Fowles Wines, Strathbogie, Australia 2015 12.00 60.00 One of our favourite Chardonnays in the cellar. This has been fermented in barrel using only wild, natural yeasts. A rich and full wine with tropical notes, buttered toast and vegetal/leafy tones. If you like rich whites, this is a dream ! Red ‘Reserve de Barton’, St. Julien, Bordeaux, France, 2010 19.50 110.00 This is the second wine from the prestigious and well respected Château Leoville Barton. A modern style of Bordeaux showing good juicy fruits with fine tannins and a long, elegant finish. Nuits-St-Georges, Domaine Marchand Tawse, Burgundy, France, 2013 17.75 95.00 A delicious and classic Pinot Noir from one of its most renowned places. The nose is not shy and full of cherry and some vanilla. This fruit appears more concentrated on the palette with crunchy tannins and good acidity giving a lovely long finish. Château Musar, Gaston Hochar, Bekka Valley, Lebanon, 2006 14.50 75.00 A wine icon ! Made from grapes grown high in the dessert plateau of Lebanon from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan. Bold dark fruits give way to a rich and earthy finish with fine, dusty tannins. A perfect glass with some Scottish game. St. Joseph ‘Equis’, Maxime Graillot, Rhône Valley, France, 2014 12.50 64.00 This Syrah is a real favourite of ours at ODG.
