Antihistamines Stop these medications 10 days prior to appt: Atarax, Vistaril, Hydroxizine (Marax) Stop these oral antihistamines 5-7 days prior: Allegra (Fexofenadine) Xyzal (Levocetirizine) Claritin (Loratadine) Alavert (Loratadine) Zyrtec (Cetirizine) Clarinex (Desloratadine) Stop these oral antihistamines 5 days prior: Actifed (Triprolidine) Antihist Axid Azatadine (Optimine, Trinalin) Bromfed Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) Cabinoxamine (Rondec) Chlopheniramine (Chlortrimeton) Clemastine (Tavist) Cyproheptadine (Periactin) Deconamine Dimenhydrinate (Dramamine) Dimetapp Diphenylpyraline (Hispril) Doxylamine (Nyquil) Drixoral Dura-Tab Flexeril (muscle relaxers) Kronofed Meclizine (Antivert) Methdilazine (Tacaryl) Naldecone Novafed-A Ornade Pepcid (Famotidine) Phenergan (Promethazine) Phenindamine (Nolamine) Pheniramine Poly-Histine-D Pyrlamine (Kronohist, Rynatan) Tagament (cimetidine) Tavist Trimeprazine (Temaril) Trinalin Zantac (Ranitidine) Valium (Lorazapam, Ativan, sleeping pills) Stop these Nasal Sprays/Eye Drops 5 days prior: Afrin Astepro Astelin Azelastine Dymista Patanase Bepreve Patanol Pataday OTC- Eye Drops *If you are unsure if your medication contains an antihistamine, please contact our office. The following medications need not be stopped: Oral Corticosteroids (Prednisone, Medrol) Pseudoephedrine Accolate (Zarfilukast) Theophylline Zyflo (Zileuton) Singulair (Montelukast) Atrovent (Ipratroptrium Bromide) Nasal Steroids: Qnasl Nasalide Fluticasone (Flonase) Nasacort Inhaled Asthma Steroids/Bronchodilators: Aerobid Pulmicort Flovent QVAR Advair Symbicort Dulera Aerospan Alvesco Asmanex Albuterol Sulfate (ProAir, Ventolin, Proventil) Levalbuterol (Xopenex) SSRI Antidepressants: Paxil (Paroxetine) Zoloft (Sertraline) Prozac (Fluoxetine) Celexa (Citalopram Hydrobromide) Lexapro (Escitalopram) Effexor (Venlafaxine) Proton Pump Inhibitors: Prilosec Aciphex Protonix Prevacid Nexium *Please note this is not a complete list.
