MOOSELOOKMEGUNTIC LAKE Mooselookmeguntic Lake, as with all the _.:!J; Rangeley, Rangeley PIt., Franklin Co. Rangeley Lakes except Aziscohos, provides Richardsontown Twp., Adamstown Twp., excellent temperatures, dissolved oxygen Oxford County, Maine levels, and general water quality characteristics for coldwater fishes. These Fishes conditions provide a habitat that produces good salmon and trout fishing despite the Salmon Minnows presence of yellow perch, a competing Brook trout (squaretail) Fallfish warmwater species. Brown trout are rarely Brown trout Creek chub taken, as only a relict population exists in Smelt Lake chub the lake. White sucker Golden shiner Mooselookmeguntic Lake has many Longnose sucker Comnion shiner tributaries which provide excellent spawning Yellow perch Fathead minnow and nursery areas for trout and salmon. Hornpout (bullhead) Blacknose dace Kennebago River, Cupsuptic River, and Bemis Landlocked alewife Pearl dace Stream are the main spawning areas for Redbelly dace Mooselookmeguntic Lake and are probably the best spawning streams in the Rangeley area. Area - 16,300 acres Temperatures Surface - 700F Maximum depth - 139 feet 117 feet - 45°F Principal fishery: Salmon, brook trout Mooselookmeguntic and Cupsuptic Lakes are separate bodies of water that have been joined to make one lake by raising the water level of Surveyed - July, 1939 Mooselookmeguntic Lake by some 14 feet. (Revised, 1953, 1985, 1992) This water level is maintained by a 20 Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and foot dam at Upper Dam, the outlet of Wildlife Mooselookmeguntic Lake. The two basins Funded in part by Federal Aid in Fish will be considered together in this Restoration Act under Federal report and the name Mooselookmeguntic Project F-28-P will refer to both lakes.
