He has served as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of Sybase, Inc. since 1998. Forbes magazine named Chen one of the Top 25 Notable Chinese Americans in Business. Chen is actively involved in international relations. In 2005, President George W. Bush appointed him to serve on the President’s Export Council. In 2006, he was appointed co-chair of the Secure Borders and Open Doors Advisory Committee. He serves on the boards of directors for the Walt Disney Company and Wells Fargo & Co. Kai-Fu Lee, Chairman and CEO of Innovation Works Dr. Lee is Chairman and CEO of Innovation Works. From 2005-2009, he was Vice President of Google, Inc. and President of Google Greater China. Before joining Google, he was Corporate Vice President for Microsoft and was founder of Microsoft Research Asia. From 1996 to 1998, Lee was the President of Cosmo Software, a subsidiary of Silicon Graphics (SGI). Lee also spent six years at Apple. From 1988 to 1990, he was an Assistant Professor at Carnegie Mellon University. Roger Wang, Chairman and CEO of Golden Eagle International Group Mr. Wang is the Chairman and CEO of Golden Eagle International Group. Founded in 1992 with headquarters in the historic former Chinese capital of Nanjing, Golden Eagle began as a real estate development company in a newly opened China, focusing primarily on the province of Jiangsu. Golden Eagle has evolved into a conglomerate, maintaining not only its initial focus on real estate but also expanding its retail business into a chain of high-end department stores with a total turnover exceeding CNY 7 billion in 2008. He is a member of the Committee of 100 and a sponsor of the delegation trip. Vivine Wang, Roger’s wife and Vice Chair of Golden Eagle Foundation Jeffrey Li, Country President of Novartis China Mr. Li current serves as the Chinese Country President of Novartis China. He was invited to join Novartis in 2004 as the first Mainland Chinese to hold this position, and has since led the company to a significant increase of investment in China. Prior to joining Novartis, Li spent 11 years with the Pritzker Family. In 1996, he joined The Marmon Group as a Director. In 1 1999, he took over Getz Commercial. He was nominated Honorary Vice Chairman of China Charity Federation, the largest Charity organization in China, and is a founding member of Non-Profit Partners, an important NGO in China. Ya-Qin Zhang, Chairman of Microsoft China R & D Group Dr. Zhang is Corporate Vice President of Microsoft, Chairman of Microsoft China Research and Development Group, and Chairman of Microsoft (China). From 2000-2004, he was the Managing Director of Microsoft Research Asia. Zhang is an expert in communications and software development. He has been granted 60 U.S. patents and has published more than 500 papers in leading international conferences and journals. Zhang is a Fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Handel Lee, Chairman of King & Wood Mr. Lee moved to Beijing in 1991 to establish the China practice for the New York Law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, and has been resident ever since. He joined law firm Vinson & Elkins in 1997 as managing partner of its China practice. In 2004, he became Chairman of King & Wood, the largest PRC law firm with over 500 lawyers, where he now serves on its management committee and partners council. He also continues to be Senior Advisor to Vinson & Elkins. Lee established the first independent contemporary art gallery in China, The Courtyard Gallery, in 1995. Since then, the Courtyard has become one of leading galleries in the world dedicated to the discovery, nurturing and exhibiting of new Chinese artists and their works. December 8, 2009 (Beijing) 9:00AM with Chinese Think Tank and Non-Profit Groups Henry Wang, Director General of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) Dr. Wang is the Founding Director General of Center for China and Globalization (CCG), an independent, private think tank in China, and the Vice Chairman of China Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA), the largest overseas returnees’ organization in China with over 50,000 members. He is also the Vice Chairman of China International Economic Cooperation Society. Over the years, he had served as an adviser for many multinational corporations in China such as GE, Siemens, ABB, Mitsubishi, and Alstom, as well as an adviser to Chinese government ministries, China State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, China’s People Congress, and China People’s Political Consultative Conference. Formerly, he worked as an official for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Chief Trade Counselor for Quebec Government at Commission for Canada in Hong Kong, Director Asia for SNC-Lavalin, and Vice President for AMEC Agra in Canada. He has published over twenty books and many papers, with a focus on international talents circulation, entrepreneurship, globalization for the Chinese enterprises, and overseas Chinese. Lo Sze Ping, Expert for Society of Entrepreneurs and Ecology (SEE) Mr. Lo joined Greenpeace in 1999 and has led its rapid development in China. He established the offices in Beijing and Guangzhou, built up a team of about 50 campaigners and communications experts, and developed campaign strategies. Under his leadership, Greenpeace China was named as “NGO of the Year” in 2005 by two leading Chinese media, 2 the Nanfeng Chuang Magazine and Southern Weekly. In 2009, Sze Ping worked for the United Nations Environment Program as an expert to review the environmental initiatives of the 2010 Shanghai Expo. Recently, he joined Society of Entrepreneurs and Ecology (SEE) to coordinate their 2010 program and lead strategic development projects. In 2006, Sze Ping was awarded “Asian of the Year” by Channel News Asia, and one of the twenty-five “Leaders Promoting Internationalization of Chinese Business” by Global Entrepreneur Magazine. In September 2007, Sze Ping was invited by the Secretary General of the United Nations to address heads of states in the UN High Level Conference on Climate Change at the UN headquarter. Shawn Shuang Zhang, Director of The Nature Conservancy China Program Mr. Zhang assumed leadership of The Nature Conservancy’s China Program in 2008 as Country Director. In this role, he leads and manages strategic direction of the China Program which includes national level initiatives, national and local policy and government engagement, emerging conservation strategies and opportunities, and conservation field programs. Shawn first began with the Conservancy’s China Program as an intern in 2001 working on a geographic information systems project. After completion of this project, he continued to serve as a consultant on various TNC projects, including alternative energy, conservation measures, and climate change. In 2004, Shawn officially joined the China Program. He helped develop the first certified carbon sequestration project in Yunnan to meet the international Climate Community and Biodiversity gold standard, integrated “biodiversity criteria” into China’s national Clean Development Mechanism aforestation/reforestation strategy, and initiated the China Green Carbon Fund with the State Forest Administration. In 2006, Shawn led the pilot phase of China’s Blueprint Project, which was focused on the upper Yangtze River basin and was carried out in conjunction with China’s State Environmental Protection Agency and other partners using TNC’s Conservation by Design approach. Since then, coding became one of his favorite hobbies. Guo is currently the CEO and Chairman of Lightinthebox.com.Guo received his master’s degree from the University Of Illinois At Urbana-Champaign, and his MBA from Stanford University. He then worked in Microsoft and Amazon before joining Google China as Kai-Fu Lee’s special assistant in 2005. Serving as the Chief Strategy Officer at Google China, he contributed to the development of various major Chinese Google products.
