ISSN 1348-1770 (online edition) Sapporo, Japan Psocid News The Psocidologists' Newsletter Special Issue I (Nov 30, 2016) COUNTRY CHECKLISTS OF THE PSOCOPTERA SPECIES OF THE WORLD, EXTRACTED FROM LIENHARD & SMITHERS, 2002: "PSOCOPTERA (INSECTA) – WORLD CATALOGUE AND BIBLIOGRAPHY" Charles LIENHARD (Geneva Natural History Museum, Switzerland) E-mail: [email protected] INTRODUCTION Geographical species checklists for about 170 political units (countries) or archipelagoes, sometimes isolated islands, are presented here, based on the data published in the taxonomic part (pp. 1-492) of the 2002 World Catalogue by Lienhard & Smithers ["Psocoptera (Insecta) - World Catalogue and Bibliography", Instrumenta Biodiversitatis, vol. 5, 2002, Muséum d'histoire naturelle, Genève, xli+745 pp. ISBN 2-88139-009-9]. Only published distributional records are taken into consideration for these checklists; bibliographical references to all records are listed for each species in the Catalogue and the complete bibliographical data can be found in the World Bibliography published in the above mentioned volume (pp. 493-664). Published records of material not identified to species level are presented in square brackets. A special list of published palaeontological records is also added (see remark below). If you would like to update any of these checklists and the corresponding bibliography (new records and nomenclatural or taxonomic changes) you can search the Additions and Corrections to the World Catalogue published in Psocid News (http://hdl.handle.net/ 2115/35519). Changes published in Psocid News (no. 4-18) under the heading "Corrections to Lienhard & Smithers, 2002" have already been integrated in the following checklists.
