To highlight this outstanding accomplishment, high honor students who have obtained a 3.50 grade point average through their 7th semester are commended for their dedication to academic excellence here today. The President’s Education Award of Excellence Silver Certificate is also awarded to high honor students, and the Gold Certificate is awarded to high honor students who have achieved above the 85th percentile on the SATs or ACTs. The outstanding grades required for this status indicate that these students have made academic achievement a high priority and have exercised the self-discipline necessary to achieve this goal. Krisleah Passaro Chorus Award - Gregor Rankine Ella Fitzgerald Vocal Jazz Award - Evelyn Voss Louis Armstrong Jazz Award - Daniel Aranda Strings Award - Elizabeth Blank Drama Award - Kathleen Newcombe Pioneer Bandwagon Recognition Award, Presented by Kenneth Hess The Pioneer Bandwagon recognizes a student in the area of band who has exemplified the essence of dedication to their craft. Alyssa DeMarco George Eicher Memorial Award, Presented by Kenneth Hess The George Eicher Memorial Award is presented to a student who has demonstrated leadership, good citizenship, and service to the school. The recipient is a dedicated music student who, through love of music and consistent effort, has improved his or her technical skills and gained musical expertise. Evelyn Voss National Art Honor Society Scholarship, Presented by Morgan Eriksen These scholarships are awarded to members of the National Art Honor Society for outstanding work in the field of art demonstrated by their active involvement in the National Art Honor Society, contributions to the field of art in and out of school, achievement in Art Courses, and the presentation of a mature and extensive art portfolio. Ashley Wahlers The Dan Midwinter Memorial Scholarship, Presented by Susan Kirkland Established in 2019, the Daniel Midwinter Joy of Singing Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Daniel Midwinter, a member of the NPHS Class of 2017. One of Dan’s greatest joys was singing. He sang in Concert Choir, Select Choir, the Spring Musical, and Voice Class. Dan’s love for singing spread to all those around him. In his senior voice recital, he brought the audience to its feet with the best rendition of “Sweet Caroline” ever performed. Sadly, Daniel passed away in November of 2018. We wish for his legacy of joyful singing to continue through this award. Sophia Del Monte New Providence High School National Honor Society Scholarship, Presented by Amy Nagle & Christine Noppenberger, Faculty Advisors The New Providence High School National Honor Society Chapter of 2020 has provided this award to future National Honor Society members. The recipient will have demonstrated the four tenants of the National Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Melanie Huashuayo New Providence Tennis Association Scholarship, Presented by Patricia Miller The New Providence Tennis Association created this scholarship in 2017 to support two graduating seniors who have demonstrated their dedication and consistent effort, and who have improved their skill and gained expertise in the sport. Samuel Kogan & Meghan Sarlund New Jersey Association of School Business Officials Edward Kilpatrick Memorial Award, Presented by Dr. David Miceli The New Jersey Association of School Business Officials presents this award to a member of the graduating class who has maintained academic excellence throughout high school and is interested in a business major at the college level. Jack Gullo NJASBO Distinguished Service Award, Presented by Peter Daquila Mr. Peter Daquila, a New Providence resident and School Business Administrator for the School District of the Chathams, was chosen this year as a recipient of a Distinguished Service Award of the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials. This award also afforded Mr. Daquila the opportunity to name a student who has demonstrated high academic achievement, leadership, good citizenship, and school and community service at a school of his choice to receive a scholarship in his honor. Genesis Ramirez The JCP Foundation Scholarship, Presented by Anurag Prasad This scholarship was established this year to honor the memory of Julia Claire Prasad, who was a member of the New Providence High School Class of 2021. Julia lived to perform from a very young age, however, it was her first year in high school when she found her true calling with the New Providence High School Marching Band Color Guard. Julia will always be in the minds and hearts of those who knew her and what she cherished. Alexandria Bannworth & Sabrina Gerace The Adele Lynch Nursing Scholarship, Presented by Jillian Shadis The Summit Area Public Foundation established the Adele M. Lynch Nursing Scholarship to support local area students who have demonstrated an interest in furthering their education in the nursing or health science field. Adele M. Lynch was a visiting nurse during the 1940’s and 1950’s in the local area and her commitment to nursing and dedicated service to the community has been recognized through this scholarship. Mariana Deicas Peter Graziano Memorial Award, Presented by Donald Carpenter The Graziano family established this scholarship several years ago to honor Peter, who was a loyal supporter of New Providence
