PRAISE FOR THE BOOK Phil Slade and his family packed themselves up and moved from the UK to Transylvania motivated by a love for Romania. This book captures their adventures and is an example to us all of beautiful things that happen when we follow our calling, however disruptive that may seem at first glance. (Her Majesty Margareta of Romania, Custodian of the Romanian Crown) The Slade family heard God’s call and set off, by faith, into the unknown. They were willing to uproot their family and cross geographical and cultural barriers because they knew how important it was to share their love of Jesus with those who were yet to hear of and experience his love. The way the whole family were included in the decision to go and the ministry that followed is a great example for families who are considering following Jesus’ Great Commission to, “Go and make disciples of all nations.” I recommend this book to all who, recognising God’s call to witness to all peoples, are asking, “What would it mean for me and my family to leave the comforts and familiarities of my own country and serve as a cross cultural missionary?” (Matthew Skirton, OM UK CEO) The Road to Transylvania tells the inspirational story of a whole family’s obedient response to God’s call on their lives. The book provides us with a fascinating blow by blow account of the practical, relational and spiritual journey from suburban Surrey to live in a small Romanian town; how they expressed the love of God particularly to young people, many of whom had lived in a now infamous state-run orphanage. (Steve Clifford Christian Leader, Speaker and Author, Former General Director of the UK Evangelical Alliance) ABOUT THE AUTHORS Phil and Elaine have four grown-up children who have all been involved with mission in Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa and Asia.
