PHEOCS Background Information 1. Effective therapy, reduces blood pressure, medicine for the heart, improves memory, and more. 2. Slow peaceful music. 3. The first serious studies were started in 2007. 4. Hospitals are using music for stress-relievers/calms anxiety. 5. Dubstep is a sub-genre of electronic music that features a progressive build up followed by a bass drop. PHEOCS Test Information We believe that the higher the tempo music, the higher the heart rate. This means that the dubstep will probably provide a faster heart rate than the calm music. PHEOCS Hypothesis MATERIALS: Computer with LoggerPro software Vernier Labquest Heart rate monitor Flash drive Quiet place 2 students Headphones iPod (for music) 2 songs Chair PHEOCS Designing experiment 1. Find two students to be test subjects. A. One must like calm music while the other likes faster paced music. 2. Give them the heart rate monitor and begin the 12 minute test. A. There will be an two intermissions, one in the beginning and one in the middle, to get their heart rate down. B. There will be a little intermission for the heart rate. 3. We will take the fastest heart rate from each song. A. We will then analyze the data. B. We will put the data in a table PHEOCS Our Procedure .
