Materials Science and Engineering B (MSEB) aims at providing a leading international forum for material researchers across the disciplines of theory, experiment, and device applications. It publishes original studies and reviews related to the calculation, synthesis, processing, characterization, and understanding of advanced quantum materials such as low-dimensional materials, topological materials, meta-materials, correlated electronic materials and novel magnetic materials, as well as how these materials can be utilized in the construction of novel devices like quantum computers, quantum sensors, spintronics and optoelectronics devices. Studies including demonstrations of these devices are also welcome. To be published in MSEB, papers must meet the high scientific standards, contain original science and make significant advances within the field. Submissions will first be assessed by an editor before being sent to independent referees to ensure it meets the scope and standards of MSEB. Benefits to authors We also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Your Paper Your Way We now differentiate between the requirements for new and revised submissions. You may choose to submit your manuscript as a single Word or PDF file to be used in the refereeing process. Only when your paper is at the revision stage, will you be requested to put your paper in to a 'correct format' for acceptance and provide the items required for the publication of your article. To find out more, please visit the Preparation section below. INTRODUCTION The journal provides an international medium for the publication of theoretical and experimental studies and reviews related to the electronic, electrochemical, ionic, magnetic, optical, and biosensing properties of solid state materials in bulk, thin film and particulate forms. Papers dealing with synthesis, processing, characterization, structure, physical properties and computational aspects of nano-crystalline, crystalline, amorphous and glassy forms of ceramics, semiconductors, layered insertion compounds, low-dimensional compounds and systems, fast-ion conductors, polymers and dielectrics are viewed as suitable for publication. Articles focused on nano- structured aspects of these advanced solid-state materials will also be considered suitable. Types of paper Types of contributions New, cutting-edge, original research work not already published; current topics of interest to a broad materials research community; plenary lectures and/or individual papers given at conferences; reviews of specialized topics within the scope of the journal; engineering studies; letters to the editor; invited papers/proceedings. Review articles MSEB considers publication of review articles on relevant topics of importance and topical impact. Authors wishing to publish a review article should send a letter directly to the Editor-in- Chief (to the following email address: [email protected]) outlining the request to write a review article with a detailed justification as to the timeliness and need for publishing such a review along with a Table of Contents and a timeline needed to complete this review. Only after the EIC approves the review article should the author submit the same into the article type "Review Article" in Editorial Manager. New MATLAB feature We are pleased to inform the authors that Materials Science and Engineering B is one of the first journals to implement The MATLAB figure viewer, which has been designed to enrich an article by enabling the reader to explore figures with data interactively and in the context of the article. These figures, which will appear on ScienceDirect, are based on MATLAB FIG files uploaded by the author. They may contain experimental data, numerical results, a visualization of a model, or other kinds of data-based, visual research output. The FIG file format captures not only the visual information but also the underlying data - which makes it possible to view a figure at maximum accuracy at all levels of zoom and from all viewpoints, and also to download the data for validation or re-use (requires MATLAB). Submission checklist You can use this list to carry out a final check of your submission before you send it to the journal for review. Please check the relevant section in this Guide for Authors for more details. Ensure that the following items are present: One author has been designated as the corresponding author with contact details: • E-mail address • Full postal address All necessary files have been uploaded: Manuscript: • Include keywords AUTHOR INFORMATION PACK 28 Sep 2021 www.elsevier.com/locate/mseb 4 • All figures (include relevant captions) • All tables (including titles, description, footnotes) • Ensure all figure and table citations in the text match the files provided • Indicate clearly if color should be used for any figures in print Graphical Abstracts / Highlights files (where applicable) Supplemental files (where applicable) Further considerations • Manuscript has been 'spell checked' and 'grammar checked' • All references mentioned in the
