Intelligence and Situational Awareness Unit Bulletin Event: Provincial Forest & Prairie Fires of Note Location: Saskatchewan Current as of: July 12, 2021; 11:30 hrs. ENMENT INFORMATION Currently there are 91 active fires: • 33 Not Contained • 9 Contained • 14 Protecting Property • 35 Ongoing Assessment All not contained fires are being assessed for any potential growth and prioritized by values at risk. Further information is located on the SPSA wildfire interactive map: https://www.saskpublicsafety.ca/emergencies- and-response/active-emergencies Wildfires of Note: 21BN-LOCK (West of Dillon) Current Size: 20,808.7 ha. Resources: Type 1, 2, and 3 crews, Helicopter Support, Heavy Equipment, Air Tanker support Communities <20 km: St. George’s Hill, Michel Village, Dillon and Buffalo River Dene FN The fire is adjacent to the Village of St. George’s Hill. Residents from Michel Village and St. George’s Hill have been evacuated. The SPSA is working with the communities and Meadow Lake Tribal Council to provide emergency accommodation (hotels), food and other necessities for 34 evacuees in North Battleford. Value protection units have been set up. SaskPower began repair of downed lines on July 12. saskpublicsafety.ca 21LA-BRIGGS (SW of Points North Landing) Current Size: 26,000 ha. Resources: Type 1 and 2 crews, Helicopter Support, Heavy Equipment, Air Tanker Support Values in Area: Cigar Lake Uranium Mine Site, Sask Power Substation and Points North Landing The fire is holding along a creek system; currently no major fire activity; and the SPSA will continue to monitor the fire. 21SR-STALLARD (East of Stony Rapids) Current Size: 21,743 ha. Resources: Type 1 and 2 crews, Helicopter Support Communities <20 km: Stony Rapids and Black Lake The fire has received significant precipitation; the SPSA is working the south west flank. Northwest flank is into a river, and the northeast flank burned into muskeg. 21LA-GMB01 (East of Grandmothers Bay) Current size: 30.0 ha. Resources: Type 1 and 2 crews, Helicopter Support, Heavy Equipment Communities <20 km: Grandmothers Bay First Nation and Missinipe Value protection units continue to be set up where required. 21LA-MULE (South of Stanley Mission) Current Size: 35 ha Resources: Type 1 Crews, Helicopter Support, Air Tanker Support Communities < 20km: Stanley Mission The fire is within 7 km of Stanley Mission with smoke blowing towards the community. The fire is slowly burning into the black; west flank burning into the lake; and the south side is slowly burning into the muskeg. Helicopter support is working on the fire. saskpublicsafety.ca 21LA-LYNX (West of Stanley Mission) Current Size: 204.7 ha. Resources: Type 1 Crews, Helicopter Support, Air Tanker Support Values in Area: Highway 102 and Highway 915 The Lynx fire as well as Deer fire are in close proximity to Junction of Highway 102 and Highway 915, and has crossed Highway 102. Assessing whether any values requiring protection in area. Highway 102 has re-opened. 21WY-RABBIT (South of La Ronge) Current Size: 201.0 ha Resources: Type 1 and 2 Crews, Heavy Equipment, Helicopter Support, Air Tanker Support Values in Area: Highway 2 north Fire is approximately 2 km from Highway 2 north; values along highway 2 north. A fire guard is being placed around fire. Air tanker and helicopter support to protect Highway 2. 21LX-Forks (Southwest of Beauval) Current size: 4.0 ha Resources: Helicopter Support, Air Tanker Support, Type 1 and 2 Crews Communities <20km: Beauval Values in Area: Highway 155, Highway 165 and Highway 965 Helicopter support is working on fire; there are some flare ups and smoke in area. Southend Area Fires Multiple fires are burning in close proximity to the community of Southend, resulting in community evacuations due to the access to the community being threatened. Effective July 2, 2021 Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency issued a provincial fire ban restricting the starting of any open fire or the discharge of fireworks in all provincial crown land including all provincial parks and all lands within the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District. www.saskpublicsafety.ca saskpublicsafety.ca .
