Highland Hill walks Inverness Sample Inerary for Inverness to Banavie Muirtown Basin This is a fantasc journey along the whole length of the Caledonian Canal. You will be amazed by the wonderful Highland Scenery. The aim of this cruise is to include the best Dochgarroch hill walks in and around the Great Glen. All hill walks are led by a friendly, experienced guide. The acvies are all oponal so should you prefer to sit and relax the choice is up to you. Saturday Boarding me 2:00pm: Welcome and safety briefing followed by either a walk along canal from Inverness to Dochgarroch (Distance 6 miles) or hike up Craig Phadraig, Leachkin and Dunain Hill then down to Dochgarroch. (Distance 8 miles) Urquhart Castle Sunday Cruise to Urquhart Bay for drop off at Temple pier (near Drumnadrochit). Ascend Meall Fuar Mhonaidh 696m OS Sheets 26 and 34; 457223 from Drumnadrochit via the Great Glen way before taking the hill path to the summit. Walk down to the Loch Ness Youth Hostel, by Invermoriston for a Loch Ness pick up by our tender before cruising on the barge to Foyers for the Meall Fuar Mhonaidh Foyers overnight stop. The summit has fantasc views looking both north and south. (Distance 16 Miles) Monday Take the South Loch Ness trail from Foyers to Fort Augustus via Loch Tarff, this route gives great views over the Monadhliath Mountains. The barge will stay overnight in Fort Augustus. This fairly recent trail is on a mix of single track, metalled track and minor roads. (Distance 16 Miles) Fort Augustus Tuesday Cycle to Bridge of Oich, leave bikes. Ascend Creag nan Gobhar 497m, via Glen Buck and descend to Loch Oich for overnight at anchor. On a clear day from the summit it is possible to see the whole glen and occasionally Ben Nevis. Castle Bay (Cycling Distance 5 Miles, Walking Distance 15 Miles) Creag Nan Gobhar Loch Oich Wednesday Follow the Great Glen Way to Laggan before starng the ascent of Ben Tee Laggan Locks 901m OS Sheet 34; 241972. Take Great Glen Way route to Kilfinnan. Ben Tee Ascent and descent by the same route. Views from the summit include the Sron a’ Choire Ghairbh middle of the glen and extend westward. The barge will stay at Laggan Locks overnight. (Distance 10 miles) Meall Na Teanga Thursday Short Cruise to Glas Dhoire on Loch Lochy before a rib drop off. Munros Loch Lochy Meall na Teanga and Sron a' Choire Ghairbh Descend to Chia‐aig Falls, walk through Achnacarry by Clan Cameron Museum to join barge. Cruise to Gairlochy for overnight stop. Gairlochy (Distance 16 Miles) Friday Walk along the towpath from the overnight berth to Banavie. The barge will e up at the Just before Neptune's Staircase.
