Authorization to Y&K We , BCFC , confirms our intention to participate on “Metro and Causeway Projects” as the local partner of Project Consortium and authorize you as the Project Consultant as below. 1. Authorized Consultant’s Scope (1) Introduction of Capable International EPC company (2) Negotiation with International EPC Company for the Scope between Consortium (3) Assistance for BCFC to make agreement with International EPC Company 2. Preliminary Agreement between BCFC and Y&K (1) Y&K agrees to proceed consulting scope until initial cooperation agreement between BCFC and EPC company as “free of charge”. Project Introduction (Bahrain METRO) Estimated Project to cost between 1 and 2 billion US dollars for the first phase of the internal rail according to sources. there is an international section of the railway that has a separate tender linking Bahrain with Saudi falling under the GCC rail project estimated at 5 billion US dollars. 28 km track with causeway 10km bridge. estimated completion on 2022-2024. 7 4. Project Introduction (Bahrain METRO) Bahrain metro tender to be launched in 2021 ‘The tender on the first phase of Bahrain metro system is expected to be launched within the next year. According to the preliminary design, it will be similar to Dubai metro system. The prequalification process will take around six months,’ The first phase of the metro system will consist of two lines with a total length of 29 km, served by 20 stations, of which two stations will offer interchange from one line to another. The lines, which will be operated by driverless trains, are expected to be operational in 2027. The first line, which will be served by 9 stations, would connect the Airport to Seef Mall through Airport Avenue and King Faisal Highway, the Avenues Mall, Bab Al Bahrain, and Bahrain City Center Mall. The second line will run from Juffair, a suburban neighborhood of Manama, to the educational area in Isa Town, crossing the Al Fateh Highway, diplomatic area, Bab Al Bahrain reaching to Al farooq Junction. The two lines will be interconnected at Bab al Bahrain and al Farooq Junction stations. The system capacity will be 43,000 passengers per hour. 8 4. Project Introduction (Bahrain METRO) According to the Ministry of Transport, the new metro system will be formed by four lines with a total length of 109 km, expected to become operational until 2055. The metro system will offer friendly-environmental transport services to country’s main economic, administrative and educational centres. On the other hand, Bahrain is continuing the development of the railway project which will ensure transport connection to the GCC network. Called the King Hamad Causeway project, it will be linked to Saudi Arabia transport system through the Causeway, a road- rail connection spanning 50 km. The road-railway connection will be jointly realised with Saudi Arabia. King Fahd Causeway Authority, Saudi Arabia Ministry of Transport and Bahrain Ministry of Transport are responsible for the implementation of the project. 9 5. Project Introduction (Bahrain & Saudi Causeway) The King Fahad Causeway Authority on Tuesday signed a consultancy agreement worth around $8.9 million to start work on the $3.5 billion project linking Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. A winning consortium of KPMG, AECOM and CMS, a mix of financial, technical, and legal companies, will work on developing the financing model, design, of the mega project as well as the helping with the assement and selection of the main developers. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Future Investment Forum held in Riyadh. King Hamad Causeway will feature a 25 kilometre road and rail causeway in the same alignment as the existing King Fahd Causeway. The railway segment will extend inland by another 21km into Saudi Arabia and 24km into Bahrain. In 2016, an average of 30,332 cars per day used the existing causeway, which began operating in 2002. 10 5. Project Introduction (Bahrain and Saudi Causeway) Bahrain is continuing the development of the railway project which will ensure transport connection to the GCC network. Called the King Hamad Causeway project, it will be linked to Saudi Arabia transport system through the Causeway, a road-rail connection spanning 50 km. The road-railway connection will be jointly realised with Saudi Arabia. King Fahd Causeway Authority, Saudi Arabia Ministry of Transport and Bahrain Ministry of Transport are responsible for the implementation of the project. The causeway from Dammam to Budaiya will extend along 75 kilometres in both countries and will include a motorway and two rail tracks, one for passenger trains and the other for freight trains. The Project consists of a 25-km road and rail offshore section adjacent to the existing causeway and a further 25-km rail section only which is predominantly in KSA connecting to the existing Dammam to Al Hofuf line and with a short section inside Bahrain connecting to the proposed King Hamad International Terminal at The tender on the project would be launched next year.
