In order to stay on top of this development, the Star Alliance Experience team is working on an interoperable solution that will allow members of frequent flyer programmes of Star Alliance member airlines to enrol their biometric identity once and use it multiple times, enabling them to navigate through the various airport touchpoints seamlessly and hands-free at participating airports. Upon customer consent, a selfie will replace the boarding-pass at check-in, bag drop, lounge and boarding gate, which will not only significantly improve the customer journey, but also help our member airlines increase their efficiency at participating hubs. In NEC Corporation, global leader in IT, we have found a strong partner to take on this project, for which design workshops are currently taking place.
