There is quite a crowd, and it is difficult to find a place to live in Delhi. In such a crowd, in so many people, even if you get a place then you will not like the location or then you will feel that [it] is so expensive that you cannot buy it or even take it for rent. So many suburbs are emerging in Delhi in the past eight-ten years, such as Noida, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad, to some extent Sonipat and Panipat as well. But Ghazia[bad], Noida and Faridabad are the main suburbs of Delhi where a lot of development is taking place. Of these three, Noida is the most … closest to Delhi; it is separated from Delhi, it is connected to Delhi by a highway and the highway … is over the Jamuna [river]. And Noida is growing a lot these days. The IT sector is established in Noida and many new people who specially work in the IT field there, live in Noida. Noida is a planned city; there … it is divided into sectors. And there it is almost a complete city by itself. And it has been planned quite well and it has also been maintained well. Compared to Noida, which is an entirely planned city, Faridabad … is an old city, it falls within [the jurisdiction of] Haryana [state]. Noida is in Uttar Pradesh, but Faridabad is in Haryana. In Faridabad, some part [of the city] is old; the most part is old and some new sections are divided into planned sectors. And Faridabad is also quite good; it is some distance away from Delhi even though it is connected but it is not [more] convenient to reach there than Noida. Faridabad is also getting to be quite an up and coming town now, these days. And because it is attached to Haryana, Haryanvi culture is dominant there. Ghaziabad is the third city, which is regarded as a main suburb of Delhi. Ghaziabad is close to Noida and is in Uttar Pradesh also. Ghaziabad is also an old city like Faridabad but many colonies,1 many areas, are also being developed in Ghaziabad. There are many residential colonies being made there. And, in fact, people who want to buy a house in 1 Residential estates. Delhi, and who are unable to buy [such a house], all those people are going to Noida or Ghaziabad. In fact, it has almost become impossible to buy [a house] in Noida. So Ghaziabad is a better choice these days. Ghaziabad and Noida make almost a large city these days that is attached to Delhi, and both are growing a lot, developing. Property (i.e. real estate) has become important to people there. And … people … people are competing in a cut-throat manner to buy land, to buy a plot, to buy a flat. Literally … cut-throat competition. But even so, if you must go to Delhi, then these cities are very good to live in. And they are quite open, [they have] spacious [places] and facilities also; the infrastructure is also rather good.
