If you opt for slow travel, why not stop for a few nights before or after going to a ski resort? There are many charming hotels in the pretty towns of Chambéry, Aix-les-Bains and Annecy, as well as by the lakes and in the vineyards. Savoie Mont Blanc is easy to access by plane (airports include Chambéry, Grenoble, Lyon and Geneva) and car.
