Ogden Utah Temple Facts Location: 350 22nd Street, Ogden, Utah 84401 Original Dedication: 18 January 1972 (then the Church’s 14th operating temple and fifth in Utah) Renovation Announced: 17 February 2010 Closing for Renovation: 2 April 2011 Public Open House: Friday, 1 August 2014, through Saturday, 6 September 2014, excluding Sundays Cultural Celebration: Saturday, 20 September 2014 Rededication: Sunday, 21 September 2014 (three sessions) Property Size: 9.96 acres Building Floor Area: 112,232 square feet Building Height: 188 feet 8 inches (includes 13-foot-high Angel Moroni statue) Exterior: Granite, quarried and fabricated in China Interior: Design motifs: Pioneer Rose, grass blades, weave pattern and sunburst Art glass: Glass from Indiana and West Virginia, fabricated by Art Glass Studio, Salt Lake City, Utah Interior stone: Sunny Vinato marble, Tiberias Gold marble and Gallala marble – all from Egypt, fabricated in China Wood: Sapele from Africa and painted maple from the United States – all fabricated by Granite Mill, Salt Lake City, Utah Furniture: Cherry and mahogany Main-level mural: Saved from original temple, by Robert Shepherd Baptistry murals: Custom oil painting by Keith Bond, Ft. Collins, Colorado Architects: Richardson Design Partnership, Salt Lake City, Utah Contractor: Big-D Construction, Salt Lake City, Utah Unique Renovation: A major renovation and architectural change, unlike other recent Latter-day Saint temple renovations. The new design is not remotely similar to the original. Once rededicated, the Ogden Utah Temple will be one of 143 operating temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worldwide and 14 in Utah.
