Assignment 5 – Remix and Collage Instructor: Janet Rooney Digital Image Development Remix A remix in art often takes multiple perspectives upon the same theme. An artist takes an original work of art and adds their own take on the piece creating something completely different while still leaving traces of the original work. It is essentially a reworked abstraction of the original work while still holding remnants of the original piece while still letting the true meanings of the original piece shine through. ~Wikipedia Collage A collage is a work of formal art, primarily in the visual arts, made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. Digital collage is the technique of using computer tools in collage creation to encourage chance associations of disparate visual elements and the subsequent transformation of the visual results through the use of electronic media. ~Wikipedia Description This assignment is the first step toward Project 4 - Remix and Collage. It is important to be aware of and include information about copyright law as it applies to remix and what the boundaries are for the imagery you will be using. Sketchbook Use your sketchbook to doodle and write ideas as you work out your concept for Project 4. Project 4 Written Proposal Write a full-page double-spaced proposal for Project 4. This proposal should include the following information: • The subject of your remix collage and how you intend to convey that to your audience. • The general approach to the project (parody, social relevance, activism, etc.) • The type of imagery you intend to use (keeping copyright law in mind and how much you can get away with) • The general look and feel (use adjectives and specifics that include mood and color) Due week 12 – attach these .doc files to an email and send it to me by the end of the week ([email protected]).
