The decision-making panel meeting regularly, so there is a fast turnaround. Many organisations are diverting funds, or allocating new funding, to support the current crisis. Please also check whether any events or training activities featured are going ahead. Bath & North East Somerset Council Funding Journal – last updated 26th May 2020 2 of 657 Section B: Latest National Funding Opportunities Coronavirus – Covid 19 Funding and Announcements Name of Fund Description The Small grants up to £20,000 and large grants up to £50,000 for charitable Coronavirus organisations in England able to respond to an anticipated increase in the Mental Health need for mental health support as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) Response Fund pandemic. – the Department of Please note: this is another ‘first come’ fund which will close to applications Health and once the available budget has been fully allocated. (DHSC), with funding The Coronavirus Mental Health Response Fund is a £5 million grant fund administered by designed to increase the availability of mental health support delivered for the mental people experiencing, or at risk of developing, mental health problems during health charity, the coronavirus crisis. Mobilise rapid support as the demand grows by funding expert organisations across England, getting support to people with and at risk of developing mental health problems as soon as possible, and 2. Provide an increase in effective services, preventing escalation of need, reducing waiting lists, enabling providers to flex their services for the current situation and increasing reach to vulnerable groups. Grants can be used to: • Scale up existing activities: For example, the organisation may manage a helpline or a forum that is experiencing an unprecedented amount of requests. • Adapt existing activities: For example, the organisation may have traditionally delivered all of their services in-person and now wants to adapt them in order to continue meeting the needs of existing, or new, service users, and • Introduce new activities: For example, organisations may want to introduce a new service that will meet the specific needs of service users that arise due, in part, to the coronavirus crisis. Registered charities, community and voluntary organisations, Community Interest Companies (CICs), Charitable Incorporate Organisations (CIOs) and Companies Limited by Guarantee may apply for either (not both!): 1. A Small Grant of up to £20,000, or 2. A Large Grant of up to £50,000. The minimum grant available is £5,000. For organisations applying for work across at least three English regions grants of up to £100,000 will be considered. Collaborative work and partnership applications are not essential but are likely to be viewed favourably for applications over £20,000. It is anticipated that around 70 large grants and up to 50 small grants will be awarded. Successful applicants will be expected to start delivery of their activities within one month of accepting funding. As an indication, projects receiving a Small Grant are expected to work with around 130 people. Those receiving a Large Grant are expected to work with around 350 people. Eligible applicants must: • Have a track record of delivering services for people with, or at risk of developing, mental health problems, and • Apply for a grant that constitutes less than 25% of the organisation’s annual turnover. Depending on the demand for funding, priority may be given to organisations that: • Are in greater financial risk from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic due to a reliance on trading or community fundraising income streams. • Have limited reserves, putting them at greater financial risk, and/or • Have already taken a number of steps to address the risks posed to their organisation, such as putting certain projects on hold, repurposing unrestricted funding to scale up day-to-day operations, taking additional cost saving approaches to essential activity. Grants can be used for: • Staffing costs. • Pension and National Insurance contributions. • Volunteer recruitment costs. • Fees for sessional workers. • Expenses for volunteers. • Direct project costs, including staff and volunteer training, meeting costs, other expenses relating to the activity and that will enable people to participate. • Communication costs, including online advertising, specific communications staffing expenses. • Core costs, including a proportion of costs related to running the project such as management costs, building costs and office costs, and • Capital costs, including office equipment necessary for project delivery. Applications submitted by: Friday 8th May will receive a decision by Thursday 28th May 2020. Friday 22nd May will receive a decision by Thursday 11th June 2020, and Friday 5th June will receive a decision Thursday 25th June 2020. Applications must be completed and submitted online through the Flexigrant Application Portal accessible via Mind’s website. Applications received by any other means will be automatically rejected. Bath & North East Somerset Council Funding Journal – last updated 26th May 2020 4 of 657 https://www.mind.org.uk/news-campaigns/campaigns/coronavirus-mental- health-response-fund/ The National Grants up to £1,000 for user-led organisations and small non-constituted Survivor User community groups in England for activities that will make an immediate Network difference to the lives of people living with mental ill-health, trauma and COVID-19 distress during the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. Response Fund - DHSC The National Survivor User Network (NSUN) Fund is designed to enable community action, peer support, mutual aid and other activities that will make a direct difference to the lives of people living with mental ill-health, trauma and distress in England during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. Please note that eligible applicants must be members of NSUN. Membership is free and groups can sign up on NSUN’s website in order to apply to the fund. The funding is for providing additional mental health support or sustaining existing support using technology during the coronavirus pandemic. Examples of eligible projects/costs could include, for example: • A peer support group in the community purchasing an annual Zoom subscription to move the group online. • A local advocacy and peer support group purchasing a laptop or additional phone data to continue their support activities.
