East Queensland Cycle Network Program 2011-12 Capital Grants Projects 2 GOLD COAST CITY COUNCIL Galeen Drive to Honeyeater Drive Green Bridge Construction GALEEN DRIVE TO HONEYEATER DRIVE GREEN BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION Project Description This project will involve the construction of a 125 metre long 4 metre wide green bridge across Miami Lake from Galeen Drive to Honeyeater Drive in Burleigh Waters. The Green Bridge will provide a safer more convenient route for pedestrians and cyclists between residential areas and trip attractors. Project works will include 125 metres of 4 metre wide bridge and 3 metre wide connecting pathway, signage and lighting. In 2009-10 the Cycle Network Program contributed $66,000 funding for the Feasibility and Design of the Galeen Drive to Honeyeater Drive Green Bridge. This project aligns with the cycle network identified in the South East Queensland Principal Cycle Network Plan. Council Priority Ranking Gold Coast City Council ranked this project 3 of 11 for 2011-12. Gold Coast City Council has committed $1,100,000 to this project and is requesting: • $1,100,000 as a 2011-12 Capital Grant from the Cycle Network Program. Political Representation • Federal – Mrs Karen Andrews MP [McPherson] • State – Mrs Christine Smith MP [Burleigh] • Local – Cr Greg Betts [Division 12] South East Queensland Cycle Network Program 2011-12 Capital Grants Projects 3 GOLD COAST CITY COUNCIL Surfers South Oceanway Stage 1 Construction SURFERS SOUTH OCEANWAY STAGE 1 CONSTRUCTION Project Description Surfers South Oceanway Stage 1 will involve the detailed design and construction of a shared cycle and pedestrian Oceanway along the foreshore of Surfers South Beach from Clifford Street to Fern Street. This project is the first stage of the Surfers South Oceanway which will contribute to a continuous cycleway along the Gold Coast beach front. Project works will include 850 metres of 3.5 metre wide off-road pathway and signage. This project aligns with the cycle network identified in the South East Queensland Principal Cycle Network Plan. Council Priority Ranking Gold Coast City Council ranked this project 1 of 11 for 2011-12.
