During the lone postseason meeting between the Thunder and Spurs in 2012, Oklahoma City advanced to the NBA Finals after defeating San Antonio 4-2 in the Western Conference Finals (OKC trailed 0-2 in 2012 before winning four straight games to close-out the series). During the 2013-14 regular season, the Thunder went a perfect 4-0 against the Spurs. Heading into Game 6 tonight in Oklahoma City, the Thunder has now won nine straight games versus San Antonio at Chesapeake Energy Arena (regular season & postseason combined). Breaking the Trend: Oklahoma City is looking to overcome an 0-2 deficient in the Conference Finals for a second time in the last three seasons. Heading into this season’s Conference Finals, teams that fell behind 0-2 in a best of 7 series in NBA history go onto win the series just 6.1% of the time (16 out of 261 chances). The Thunder is looking to advance to the NBA Finals, despite trailing in each of the first three rounds of the playoffs. Should the Thunder advance to The Finals, Oklahoma City would become just the second team in NBA history to advance to the Finals after trailing in each of the first three rounds of the postseason (2011 Philadelphia 76ers). Playoff Notes: Oklahoma City is making its fifth consecutive trip to the playoffs and in each of the last four seasons, the Thunder has advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals.
