It is a privilege to be a part of the Mid-States Football Association as it is one of the stronger conferences in the NAIA. With this, our student athletes face excellent competition and have the opportunity to grow through adversity and develop skills that they can take with them the rest of their lives. Trinity is an NAIA school, which means that sport is much more than having success on the field. The NAIA strives to build into student-athletes skills they can take with them for the rest of their lives through their Champions of Character program. At the heart of this program are 5 core values: •Integrity •Respect •Responsibility •Sportsmanship •Servant leadership It is our desire for every student-athlete to grow and develop in the core values of the NAIA. We are also part of the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) where we believe: •Athletics are a means to an end, not the end in themselves •The process is as important as the performance •The person (student-athlete) is more important than the program We are committed to equipping student-athletes and coaches to make a positive impact for Christ. Please join us in cheering on our Trinity Trojan Football team as they take the field this season. Thank you for your support! In Christ, Heather Logue Director of Athletics 2 2018 Season Review The 2018 season of Trinity International University football marked the XXXth/nd year of Trojans compet- ing on the gridiron. While wins were difficult to come by, it did not stop TIU from battling the competition week in and week out on the field. “2018 was all about establishing culture,” said head coach Lamont Butler. “It takes a couple years to get culture established and getting the team to practice, prepare and perform the way we want them to. Even though the win-loss oss column wasn’t in our favor and what we would want, we found the guys who are bought in and willing to work towards what we are trying to build here at Trinity.” Junior quarterback Jonathan Santos found his targets 61.9% of the time, setting a new Trojan record for passing completion percentage. In his final season wearing the blue and white, senior wide receiver Devonta Archer pulled in four touchdown receptions for a team high 803 yards, while redshirt freshman running back Derek Lowe ran for nearly five yards per carry while finding the endzone six times on the ground. On defense, senior defensive back Bradley Mowbray led the Trojans with 115 total tackles, including seven tackles for a loss of yardage. Freshman fullback Isaiah Lampkins also made an early mark in his collegiate career forcing three fumbles, recovering two for his team. 2019 Preview The Trinity International University Trojan football team looks to make the 2019 season a year of redemption. After posting an 0-10 record a year earlier, veterans and rookies alike have their eyes set on an improved year of Trojan football. “We had a pretty good spring,” said head coach Lamont Butler. “We saw some growth in our younger guys who we will have to count on this year to produce, along with some of our juniors and seniors.” Of the 72 players on the roster, 41 enter their first year in a Trojan uniform. Among the newest recruits to don the blue and white is junior transfer quarterback Nolan Brammer, linebacker Kemon Reese, and defensive tackle and nose guard Moses Smith. A number of veterans also return for TIU in 2019 to help guide a young team down the stretch. Among the veter- ans is kicker and punter Carter Andrade, wide receiver Jimmy Campbell, offensive lineman Urijah Mangum. TIU will face two teams that have been ranked, and two that have received votes in the NAIA Football Coaches Preseason Top 25 poll. “2019 won’t be easy but if we come together as a team and play to our standard all the time we can do some good things,” Coach Butler explained. “We have to be bought in and consistent this year. I believe we have tall of the tools to be successful, everyone has got to be on the bus!” The Trojans will host four home games at Leslie Frazier Field in Deerfield this season, beginning with St. Francis (IL) on September 14. Marian (IN) will visit on September 21 for homecoming, followed by Missouri Baptist on October 12, and Indiana Wesleyan on October 26. All home games will begin at 1 p.m. 3 2019 Football Schedule DAY DATE OPPONENT LOCATION TIME Sat. Aug. 31 Presentation College Aberdeen, SD 7:00 PM Sat. Sept. 7 University
