Page 13 Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai 2 July - December 2018 Visits From Malaysia Visit by YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming, Deputy Minister of International Trade and In- dustry to Nanjing, 18 – 20 September 2018 YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming, the Deputy Min- ister of International Trade and Industry undertook a working visit to Nanjing on 18 - 20 September 2018. During the visit, the Deputy Minister officiated the 8th Malaysia-China Entrepreneur Conference (MCEC 2018) and visited the headquarters of Suning Group. The Deputy Minister also took the opportunity to meet with Malaysian community residing in Jiang- su province. Working Visit of YB Teresa Kok Suh Sim, Minister of Primary Industries to China, 21-24 October 2018 YB Teresa Kok Suh Sim, the Minister of Primary Industries undertook a working visit to Shanghai and Nanjing from 21 – 24 October 2018. YB Minister officiated the Malaysia-China Palm Oil Trade Fair and Seminar (POTS) 2018 in Nanjing on 23 October 2018. The working visit was aimed at fostering closer collaboration and to explore investment opportunities in the palm oil sector. The fair also pro- vided a platform for participants to dis- cuss and address issues related to trade and market access of palm oil between Malaysia and China. Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai 3 July - December 2018 Visits From Malaysia Courtesy Visit by Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developer's Associa- tion (SHEDA) and Ministry of Hous- ing Sarawak, Shanghai, 23 October 2018 A delegation from Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developer's Associa- tion (SHEDA) and Ministry of Hous- ing Sarawak paid a courtesy visit to the Consulate General on 23 October 2018. The delegation of more than 30 people was led by YB Datuk. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak’s Minister of Local Government and Housing as well as Dr. Christopher Ngui, President of SHEDA. Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai 4 July - December 2018 Official Engagements of the Consulate General in Shanghai The Seminar on Chinese Enterprises Going to the ASEAN, 5 July 2018 The seminar was held in Shanghai on 5 July 2018 to enhance cooperation between China and ASEAN countries under the Belt and Road Initiative. Representatives from all ASEAN Consulate Generals in Shanghai were invited to provide latest information on their respective countries' investment policies to promote investment collaboration. ASEAN Day Flag Raising Ceremony, Consulate General of Singapore in Shanghai, 8 August 2018 In conjunction with ASEAN Day 2018, a Flag Raising Ceremony was held at the Consulate Gen- eral of Singapore in Shanghai on 8 August 2018. The event was graced with the presence of repre- sentatives from Consulate Generals of all ASEAN and Dialogue Partners in Shanghai, as well as representatives from the Foreign Affairs Offices of Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Briefing by the CPPCC Shanghai Committee, Shanghai, 6 December 2018 The CPPCC Shanghai Committee held its annual briefing on 6 December 2018. Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai 5 July - December 2018 Official Engagements of the Consulate General in Shanghai Dialogue Between Anhui Province and Foreign Missions in Shanghai and Matchmaking Event for Enterprises, Huangshan, Anhui Province, 7 December 2018 The Foreign Affairs Office of Anhui Province Organized a forum with the theme of “Experiencing Anhui, Building Partnerships Towards Win-Win Outcomes” on 7th December 2018. The forum provided a platform for Anhui and foreign enterprises to explore collaboration, as well as to display the traditional Huizhou culture and non-material cultural relics. Lead- ers of the Anhui Provincial Government and 16 municipalities as well as representatives from fifty Anhui enterprises attended the forum. The 2018 Consular Corps Meeting With Mayor of Shanghai, 10 December 2018 H.E. Mr. Ying Yong, the Mayor of Shanghai briefed the Consular Corps in Shanghai on the latest economic and social developments of Shanghai. The meeting provided the opportuni- ty for representatives from the Consular Corps in Shanghai and private entrepreneurs to ex- change views and explore cooperation on im- proving the overall development of Shanghai. Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai 6 July - December 2018 Promotional Activities Malaysia Week in Hangzhou, 6-12 July 2018 Malaysia Week was held from 6 to 12 July 2018 at the Kerry Centre, Hangzhou. The event, jointly organized by Alibaba and MDEC, was aimed at promoting the Malaysian experience and prod- ucts in China. A food and cultural promotion was also held at the Shangri-La Midtown Hotel, Hangzhou in conjunction with the Malaysia Week. The 8th Malaysia-China Entrepreneur Conference (MCEC 2018), Nanjing, 19 September 2019 Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), in col- laboration with Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Com- merce organized the 8th Malaysia-China Entrepreneur Conference (MCEC 2018), 19 September 2018. The confer- ence, officiated by YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming, the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry was at- tended by more than 400 participants from China and Malaysia. The Conference provided a platform for con- necting, communicating and cooperation between Ma- laysian and China’s small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), especially in Nanjing. Tropicana is one of the top ten developers in Malaysia with various developments throughout the country. Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai 7 July - December 2018 Promotional Activities Malaysia Street Bazaar, Shanghai, 15 - 16 No- vember 2018 The Malaysia Street Bazaar was held in Shanghai to promote and showcase the unique cuisine, culture, arts and handicrafts, as well as tourism in Malaysia. The event was orga- nized by Tourism Malaysia Shanghai, with the collaboration of various industry partners at Guoman Hotel, Shanghai on 15 – 16 Novem- ber 2018. Opening Ceremony of Malaysia Pavil- ion at Automechanika Shanghai 2018, Shanghai, 28 November 2018 The Consul General of Malaysia in Shanghai officiated the Malaysia Pavil- ion at Automechanika Shanghai 2018, which took place at the National Exhi- bition and Convention Centre, Shang- hai. Both Malaysia External Trade De- velopment Corporation and The Malay- sian Rubber Export Promotion Council organized Malaysia companies to par- ticipate in Automechanika Shanghai 2018 to promote automotive compo- nents and rubber products from Ma- laysia. Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai 8 July - December 2018 Other Activities Hari Sukan Negara, Shanghai, 13 October 2018 The Consulate General of Malaysia in Shang- hai organized a bowling tournament in con- junction with Hari Sukan Negara on 13 Octo- ber 2018. The event was attended by members and families of the Consulate General of Ma- laysia as well as other Malaysian government agencies in Shanghai. “Sayangi Malaysiaku” Dinner organized by the Malaysian Association of Jiangsu (Maju), Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, 24 November 2018 Malaysian Association of Jiangsu (MAJU) orga- nized the annual gathering of Malaysians in Jiang- su on 24 November 2018, with the theme of “Sayangi Malaysiaku”. Guests were entertained with performances from Malaysian children resid- ing in Jiangsu. YB Mr. Lim Kit Siang, YB Mr. Chew Chong Sin and the Consul General were invit- ed as guests of honour to grace the “Sayangi Malaysiaku” dinner.
