We rallied at Frontline on Saturday at 1200 and departed the lot right at 1300 as planned. This got us down the interstate right on time to meet up with additional participants at the SunDog Outfitters in Damascus VA, where we got together for a pre-ride meeting and checked to ensure our rides were fueled up and ready to get started on our great adventure for the weekend. We headed out in a beautiful line of adventure machines from R1200GSA's to WR250's and every color, size, and brand in the middle, as we meandered down the pavement to encounter our first piece of dirt. It wasn't a difficult course for the pilots who came, and there was more asphalt involved than a lot of us anticipated, but, that gave us some time to fool around with each other at stop lights and get to learn who we were riding with. Chip lead the group the entire route and escorted our experienced off-road and adventure riders down the beautiful roads while I, for the first time, held position of Jack-in- the-Back. At first, I didn't like the position, but then it opened my eyes to a new perspective of being able to see all the beauty that comes along with a group ride. It kept the tempo down for me so I could also enjoy the scenery that I usually would've missed due to a higher concentration level necessary to lead an experienced group of athletes down a precarious path. We had our high moments and low moments as all rides do, but I think we did a spectacular job of turning the negative experiences into laughable fun moments to look back at when we arrived at the camp site for a lovely meet and greet of all the riders in a more personable fashion. We didn't make it to our original destination of White Rock Campground as we had a large group that took longer to negotiate the route. We ended up staying, and basically commandeering, a beautiful campsite right next to Dismal Falls. Check out the video link below to see the scenery you missed not coming this time. After the camping was over, we packed up early in the morning to get a head start on the second leg of the BDR we were all so ambitious to experience. The weather was perfect, the landscape was amazingly illuminated by the early sun for a breath-taking look at the beautiful country we live in and need to experience on two wheels to take in all the sights, smells, and sounds. Once we negotiated down Tub Run and intersected with 311 we started to have some of the crew depart on their own path back towards home. towards home. Unfortunately, due to time, not all were able to complete the entire ride with us. We had some troopers stick it out with us all the way to our final destination in Covington, where we laughed and shared the moments stuck in our helmet during the ride. This trip created an everlasting bond with our new-found friends that, before this, were otherwise acquaintances until we really got to know them on this overnight camping trip. We are already planning our next big adventure for the Fall Overnight Camping Trip. It will be the first weekend of Sept., Labor Day weekend. We will be keeping it a little more local, but great roads with even more dirt to explore. Big Mike: who did our Road Side First Aid course for us in house will be doing a Fire Starting Course. Learn to build your own tools (not lighters) to create necessary fire and utilize modern equipment to start them as well. We had a great turn out with tons of fun to be had; arguably, the best Sunday Ride yet. We headed down 81 S until we hit 100 and exited into Dublin to fill up on fuel before the journey began. There were three more people meeting us at the entrance to 42, which we utilized to get to 52 where we climbed the Tower for a splendid view of our future riding territory that day. After all that fun we continued down 42 until we got to our beloved 16. We headed north first towards Tazewell so we could get some awesome drone footage of the participants and allow us to head to Marion after the ride and get BBQ at the local joint, which was spectacular!!! While in route to the BBQ we did something new and refreshing, we stopped by Hungry Mother State Park and got a little stripped down and went swimming to refresh ourselves and our bodies after the exhilarating ride over the Back of the Dragon. Assemble: 8:40 Depart: 9:00 Rally Point: Frontline Eurosports 1003 Electric Rd. Salem, VA 24153 Nate's Bike Review: 2019 Triumph Speed Triple RS: Oh my Gosh, what a motorcycle!!! The NEW 2019 Triumph Speed Triple RS is now more torquey with more electrical options like TFT and clutch-less upshift and downshift. The RS has a new frame and sub- frame color as well as coming in this amazing Matte Black color or Crystal White...I stated the colors because you might not catch the color...only a blur as this beast rips past you with the stock Arrow muffler roaring with a more aggressive & deeper tone then before. I feel like this generation of Speed Triple has gone back to the feel of the original street fighters they produced with a more Street Triple type of twitchiness that I appreciate when transitioning through the mountains or just commuting to work through traffic. I haven't done any recent Vlogs or anything on the stock units as one I'm keeping at 0 miles for the first owner and the white model is already sold, Congratulations Judy, you're going to love this beast!! With Pirelli tires wrapped around those sexy wheels, and the single-sided swingarm speaking to you from any distance, the bike has some amazing accents. It is easily visible with the high mount dual undertail exhaust from Arrow, the Ohlins suspension, and Brembo stoppers keep all the power on the ground. The exhaust from Arrow, the Ohlins suspension, and Brembo stoppers keep all the power on the ground. The technology package has: ABS, Traction Control, Ride Modes, and even Cruise Control. This missile's goodies will help you enjoy every moment you have on the 2019 Triumph Speed Triple RS. Here are some pictures and videos for you to enjoy and pick up on even more attention to detail from Triumph like the carbon fiber front fender and radiator shrouds, red wheel tape, and factory bar end mirrors!!! I'm here to help you get on this dream machine when you are ready, I'm only a phone call, text, IM, or visit away from you. ; ) Video Links to Uncrating & Walk-Around: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3lw4qfd7NA&t=1s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpKNxys5nyg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yl03AV5iedc&t=47s Track Days: '18 Calendar for PRE June 17th 2018 VIR South / Next California Superbike School Opportunity August 6th I am going to include the already announced Frontline Track Days with Performance Riding Experience on the calendar for 2018!!
