Only a win would give Lokomotiv hope of finishing third. Previous meetings • Away clubs held sway in the sides' only other fixtures before this season, in the 2002/03 UEFA Champions League first group stage – when current coaches Fatih Terim and Yuri Semin were also in charge of Galatasaray and Lokomotiv respectively. Galatasaray scored twice in the final 20 minutes to win 2-0 in Moscow on matchday one, but Loko bounced back with a 2-1 success in Istanbul in the penultimate round of fixtures – all the goals again coming in the last 20 minutes. That helped the Russian club finish second in the section behind a Barcelona side who won every game; Galatasaray ended fourth. Form guide Lokomotiv • Lokomotiv followed their defeat at Galatasaray with a 1-0 home loss to Schalke before home (1-3) and away (1-4) reverses against section leaders Porto. They are one of only two teams without a point after four matches, AEK Athens (Group E) being the other. • Loko have lost their last six European matches – having won the previous four. The current run is the worst losing sequence in Lokomotiv's European history, eclipsing their five successive losses in 2003. • The Schalke defeat ended Lokomotiv's four-match unbeaten run at home in UEFA Champions League matches, group stage to final –since a 1-0 loss to Real Madrid in March 2003 – and a three-game home winning streak in the competition proper. • Lokomotiv have won only four of their last 12 European fixtures in Moscow, losing six. • Russian champions last season for the first time since 2004, this is Lokomotiv's fourth group stage campaign, having not featured since 2003/04 – their third successive appearance – when they reached the round of 16. • The Moscow club qualified from their group on their last two appearances. • In 2017/18, Lokomotiv kicked off in the UEFA Europa League group stage, beating Nice in the round of 32 before suffering an 8-1 aggregate loss against eventual champions Atlético Madrid in the last 16. • The Moscow club have drawn three of their last five fixtures against Turkish clubs, losing the other two. At home overall, they have won only one of their five fixtures with Turkish visitors (D2 L2). Galatasaray • After the impressive defeat of Lokomotiv Moskva, Galatasaray's momentum was checked by a 1-0 loss at Porto in their second fixture. They were held 0-0 at home by Schalke before a 2-0 reverse in Germany last time out. • Cimbom have therefore lost their last six European away matches, and 11 of the last 13 (D2). Their last European victory outside Turkey was a 3-2 success at Schalke in the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League round of 16; they are without a victory in 15 matches (D2 L13). • Turkish champions in 2017/18, Galatasaray last reached the UEFA Champions League round of 16 in 2013/14. • Galatasaray are in the group stage for the 15th time – Beşiktaş are the next most successful Turkish club, on seven. • The Istanbul club's 2017/18 European campaign lasted only one tie – they lost 3-1 on aggregate to Swedish club Östersund in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round. • Both Gala's wins against Russian opposition have come at the expense of Lokomotiv – their record otherwise is D2 L5. • Galatasaray are the only team from Turkey to have reached a European Cup semi-final, in 1989. Links and trivia • Fernando Muslera was in the Uruguay side that won 3-0 against Russia in this summer's FIFA World Cup group stage. Aleksei Miranchuk was in Russia's starting line-up before being replaced by Fedor Smolov in the second half; Anton Miranchuk was an unused substitute. 4 FC Lokomotiv Moskva - Galatasaray AŞ Wednesday 28 November 2018 - 18.55CET (20.55 local time) Match press kit Stadion Lokomotiv, Moscow • Benedikt Höwedes and Jefferson Farfán were in the Schalke side beaten 4-3 on aggregate by Galatasaray in the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League round of 16. • Have played together: Grzegorz Krychowiak & Mariano Ferreira (Bordeaux 2012, Sevilla 2015/16) Benedikt Höwedes & Younès Belhanda (Schalke 2016) Vedran Ćorluka & Eren Derdiyok (Bayer Leverkusen 2012) Manuel Fernandes & Sofiane Feghouli (Valencia 2010) • Has played in Turkey: Manuel Fernandes (Beşiktaş 2011–14) • International team-mates: Brian Idowu & Henry Onyekuru (Nigeria) Latest news Lokomotiv Moskva • On 27 July Lokomotiv suffered a 1-0 extra-time defeat by CSKA in the Russian Super Cup. • Having won only two of their first eight league matches this season, Lokomotiv have won five and drawn one of the last seven, although they were beaten 2-1 at home by Ural on Friday. • Lokomotiv picked up only two points from their first three Premier League matches – the worst start to a campaign by the defending champions in Russian league history. • Jefferson Farfán scored in Peru's 3-2 friendly defeat against Costa Rica on 20 November.
