The castle has dominated the city landscape for over 900 years and been the site of many major events in British history. The 12th Century Cathedral, an impressive building in the city centre is the magnificent location for our graduation ceremonies. The city is known for its great shopping, restaurants, music and entertainment, and is within easy travelling distance of the cities of Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow. The town of Ambleside, home to our university campus, offers a wealth of activities for visitors and sits in the heart of one of the World’s best-known national parks, the English Lake District. The region has been an inspiration to writers and poets over the centuries, including the children’s author, Beatrix Potter, and William Wordsworth who wrote the much-loved poem ‘Daffodils’. On campus, you will find a range of facilities including a well-stocked library, accommodation, café and flexible social and study areas.
