Scotland have won their last two RBS 6 Nations matches, against Italy and Ireland, a feat they had not previously managed since 2001, when they also beat the Italians and Irish (though the Ireland game was not played until September due to the foot and mouth crisis). They have not won three in a row in the tournament since 1996. The Scots have won just one round four encounter since 2001: in 2008 against England. Wales have lost just one of their last eight RBS 6 Nations fixtures: versus Ireland on 2 February. Scotland’s only win in their last ten contests with Wales: 21-9 in a tryless encounter at Murrayfield in 2007. In four of the last five Tests between these nations, the Welsh have won by margins of 13 points or more and have averaged 28 points scored per game. Wales have won on three of their last four visits to Murrayfield. Wales’ biggest ever victory over Scotland came at Murrayfield in 2005, when they scored six tries in a 46-22 win. ON THE PITCH Scotland’s average of under 61 per carries per match after three rounds of the RBS 6 Nations is the lowest in the tournament and way below the average of 103 per game.
