Mark Hunter braved the depths of the dungeon, managed Oto survive and tells about his experience on page 2. Fort Wayne Youtheatre’s production of Lord of the Flies, is a departure for the orga- nization known mostly for it’s fairy tale and other kid-centric productions. Though it features a cast of mostly pre-teen boys, this production is very adult, as anyone who has read William Golding’s novel knows. Hunter (who gets around) previews this extraor- dinary show on page 4. If you haven’t yet found time to visit the DeKalb County Free Fall Fair, you’ve probably missed the rock shows (featured last week in whatzup). There’s still time to enjoy the fair, though, especially for country music fans, as the Swon Brothers, those guys from The Voice, headline the fair’s free concert on Saturday, Oct. 3. Ryan Smith reports on page 5. Last but not least among this week’s features is Michele DeVinney’s interview with magician Jeff Hobson, one of the stars of The Illusionists, part of this year’s Broadway at the Embassy series. You’ll find that on page 6. All in all, a pretty eclectic mix of exciting things to do, and that’s just the features. You’ll find even more in the calendars, columns and ads, so read on, find some fun stuff to do and remember to tell ’em whatzup sent you. inside the issue • features ROAD NOTEZ ................................. 14 FLIX ................................................ 16 COLUMBIA CITY HAUNTED JAIL .............2 The Intern Deep in the Dungeon of Death SCREEN TIME ...............................16 LORD OF THE FLIES .....................................4 Adam Sandler Has Himself a Hit “FIRE IN THE FORT” ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF Not Just for Kids Anymore DIRECTOR’S NOTES ......................17 “fire in the fort” SWON BROTHERS.....................................5 The Kitchen Witches The Voice Behind Them PRODUCTION NOTES ....................17 annual chili cook-off rd THE ILLUSIONISTS ....................................6 Anything Goes Saturday October 3 , 2015 Prepare to Be Amazed THE GREEN ROOM ........................18 Noon –5pm • columns & reviews *Net proceed benefit The • calendars American Red Cross Headwaters Park (West Pavilion) SPINS ...............................................8 *Frontier will be on site with their Black Violin, Miley Cyrus LIVE MUSIC & COMEDY ...................9 Mobile TV’s so you won’t miss the Chili Tasting & Competition BACKTRACKS ..................................8 MUSIC/ON THE ROAD ...................14 Baby Grandmothers, Baby Grandmothers (1968) Purdue vs. Michigan State game!
