Raynel High-A Central League Delgado’s two-run, go-ahe ad double highlighted the Captains’ three-run eighth inning, as Lake County won a back-and-forth affair, 6-3. The game featured three ties (1-1, 2-2, 3-3). West Michigan led twice (2-1, 3-2) and the Captains led twice (1-0, 6-3). East Division W L GB MORE ON LAST NIGHT : The Captains took a 1-0 lead on a Whitecaps error in the first inning, but West Michigan tied the score in the fifth on a solo homer by Corey Joyce and took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Danny Cabrera. Lake Dayton (Cincinnati) 23 16 -- County tied the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth on an Aaron Bracho RBI single. The Captains nearly took the lead later in the sixth when Delgado doubled down the left field line, but Cabrera threw out Bracho trying to score from first to end the inning. LAKE COUNTY (Cleveland) 21 18 2.0 The Whitecaps came back to take the lead again in the top of the seventh on an Eliezer Alfonzo RBI single. The Captains loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh, but could only push across one run on a Brayan Rocchio single that plated West Michigan (Detroit) 19 19 3.5 Austen Wade to even the score at 3-3, but right fielder Bryant Packard threw Joe Donovan out at home to end the inning and keep the game tied. Delgado’s two-run double gave the Captains the lead in the bottom of the eighth and Wade singled home Delgado to Great Lakes (Los Angeles - NL) 19 20 4.0 give the Captains their largest lead of the game at 6-3. Reliever Jared Janczak got the win after pitching a perfect eighth and Nic Enright nailed down the save with a one-two-three ninth. Whitecaps reliever Bryce Tassin allowed two runs in one inning to take Lansing (Oakland) 19 20 4.0 the loss. Fort Wayne (San Diego) 16 22 6.5 REDEMPTION: The Captains have won three straight games against West Michigan after being swept in a six-game series during their first meeting with the Whitecaps. At LMCU Ballpark in May, Lake County’s offense averaged just 2.0 runs per game and West Division W L GB slashed .179/.265/.235. The Captains’ pitching staff posted a 5.07 ERA at West Michigan.
