
GHWH K-6th Grade Scholars for the 19-20 School Year: Tops: Light Blue or White Polos - both boys and girls 1. Must be from Dennis Uniforms with Great Hearts logo (any shirts that are embroidered independently with the Great Hearts logo are considered not dress code compliant) 2. Long or Short Sleeved are acceptable Bottoms: Dennis Uniforms Navy & Khaki plaid Skirts - girls only 1. Dark (preferable navy) shorts must always be worn under skirts Bottoms: Navy only Shorts or Pants - boys and girls 1. Any vendor is acceptable 2. Must be school uniform style slacks 3. No "Skinny" pants, leggings, jeans, pants or shorts with external sewn pockets, rivets, or other jean like characteristics are permitted. No pants or shorts that are Dickies, cargos, over-sized, super-baggy pants, dungarees, extra pockets, extra zippers, or extra seams. These are considered not dress code compliant. 4. Regular, Slim or Husky cut are acceptable 5. Must have belt loops Belts must be worn with all shorts and pants (Kindergartners are exempted from belts.) 1. Belts must be dark in color. Option for K-2nd Grade - girls only: 1. Dennis uniform Navy & Khaki plaid jumper w/Peter Pan color shirt (this is an option to the uniform, not required) 2. If jumper is worn, must have Peter Pan buttoned down blouse, polos cannot be worn under jumper 3. Dark (preferable navy) shorts must always be worn under jumpers Outwear: 1. Solid Navy-blue Cardigan Sweater, Pullover Sweater or Quarter Zip Pullover from Dennis Uniforms (any sweaters that are embroidered independently with the Great Hearts logo are considered not dress code compliant) 2. These are optional and not required. 3. Girls can wear either version of the cardigan - girls scalloped or unisex cardigan 4. Please note only GH uniform sweaters and pullovers can be worn in the school building) Vendor: Dennis Uniforms Only. 5. Non-uniform outwear is not allowed inside the school building. Jackets and sweatshirts may be worn to school for warmth but must be free of logos and messages, with the following exceptions: small sports team logos (e.g., Griffins, Diamondbacks) and small brand name logos (e.g. the Ralph Lauren “polo”) are acceptable, provided they are tasteful and do not make inappropriate allusions. All jackets and sweatshirts must be solid colored and may have no patterns or distracting/over-sized logos of any kind. Jackets and sweatshirts must remain in the lockers, cubbies or desks for the remainder of the school day. 7. Great Hearts Western Hills uniform sweaters may be worn throughout the school day all year long. The only outerwear allowable to be worn in the school building are the official school sweater or pullover with the Great Hearts logo available from Dennis Uniforms Footwear - 3 different options - both boys and girls: 1. Keds School Days shoes (white and navy-blue version), or 2. Any all (solid) white athletic shoe, or 3. Any all (sold) black athletic shoe 4. Any logos on the shoe must be the same color at the entire shoe (either all white or all black to match shoe) 5. The side sole of the shoe must be the same color at the rest of the shoe Socks must always be worn 1. Sock color must be solid white or solid black and free of logos. 2. Socks may crew length or ankle high. No show socks are not permitted. 3. Girls have the option of wearing navy or white knee highs or tights (no leggings even during cold weather) Grooming for Boys: 1. Boys must maintain a clean, neat haircut that keeps hair out of the eyes when combed. The hair cut should follow traditional style and should not hang over the ears or collar, not be gathered into a ponytail, not reflect a current fad or be a distraction. No artificial coloring of the hair, extreme spiking of the hair, mohawks or "man buns". Hair gel that helps the hair stay in place or controls curly hair is allowable. The hair is to be neatly combed before the beginning of each school day. Hair styles which reflect a family's particular religious heritage or culture are allowed. 2. No jewelry except a watch may be worn (no smart watches), as long as it does not become a distraction. Grooming for Girls: 1. Girls’ hair should be clean and styled in such a way as to keep it out of their eyes and in a non-distracting fashion. For girls with long hair, it must be well tacked back with barrettes, pony holders, etc. Please avoid spray glitter, fake hair pieces, and unnatural hair coloring and flashy accessories. Simple bows, barrettes, scrunchies and headbands that match the colors of the uniform or are school colors are permitted. 2. K-6 students may not wear make-up or nail polish, except for clear polish. 3. Simple stud- styled earrings may be worn (no dangling or hoop earrings). If a student wears a necklace, it must be tucked into the shirt and not visible. No other jewelry except a watch (no smart watches) may be worn. No other piercings, body art, jewelry or temporary tattoos should be worn to school. 4. Radical hair color changes during the school year are not permitted. pp. 2 of 2 .
