1.1 GENERAL 1.1.1 SCOPE OF WORK 1.1.1.1 All work included in these Specifications is subject to the provisions of the Instructions to Bidders, General Conditions, and the Contract, appropriate provisions of which shall apply equally to all subcontractors. 1.1.1.2 The Plans, these Specifications, or the Special Provisions (Contract Documents) shall govern the work. The Wisconsin Highway Specifications, the Wisconsin Sewer and Water Specifications, Specifications for Water Main & Service Lateral Materials and Installation of Water Main & Appurtenances for Waukesha Water Utility of the City of Waukesha, the regulations of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR), AWWA Specifications, and Manufacturers’ Recommendations shall be of reference only unless specifically identified in these specifications or Special Provisions and shall not supersede the project Contract Documents. 1.1.1.3 The Contractor shall furnish all labor, material, and equipment necessary to complete in all respects the work shown on the Plans or mentioned in the Specifications, or required in order to complete the work in accordance with the intent of the Plans and Specifications. Unless specifically stated to be the responsibility of another party, the requirements of these Specifications shall be the responsibility by the Contractor. 1.1.1.4 Payment under the various bid items is intended as full compensation for the work described as well as all labor, tools, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the work. 1.1.2 ABBREVIATIONS 1.1.2.1 Abbreviations and acronyms used in these Specifications include, but are not limited to: AASHTO – American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. ADA – American with Disabilities Act. Administrative Code – Rules of Wisconsin Code. ANSI – American National Standards Institute. AREMA – American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association. ASME – American Society of Mechanical Engineers. ASTM – ASTM International.
