These reports constitute the only centralized placement data collection for the UofA and serve as a resource for career planning for current and prospective students, used by colleges/schools, departments, employers and other stakeholders. These data are also reported to various organizations that rank colleges, such as US News and World Report, the College Portrait of Undergraduate Education/Voluntary System of Accountability, National Association of Colleges and Employers, Princeton Review survey, Peterson’s Undergraduate survey, College Board Survey, and a few others. UofA Class of 2018 includes those students who graduated in August 2017, December 2017 and May 2018. The University Career Development Center (CDC) surveys graduating class within an average of 6 months of their graduation to learn whether they have secured employment, types and locations of employment secured, salaries offered, military or volunteer service, graduate or professional school acceptance, or other plans. The CDC administered an online placement survey for August 2017 graduates of UofA colleges and schools except Sam Walton College of Business (WCOB). Walton Career Services collected the placement information for August 2017 graduates of WCOB, and shared it with the CDC to generate this 2017-2018 Career Outcomes Report for the university as a whole. Handshake First Destination Survey (FDS) is utilized to collect placement data from December 2017 and May 2018 graduates. Graduating students are emailed an invitation to participate in the survey and directed to a link that allows them to complete it online. Students can login to FDS multiple times during the collection period to ensure that the most accurate, current data is captured. Additionally, graduating students were surveyed during Grad Salute events at UofA Bookstore, non-responders were contacted via phone by CDC volunteers and National Phone Campaign callers later after graduation. Most of the information is collected directly from the graduates, however, some also is obtained through other sources (LinkedIn profiles, other online sources, parents, faculty advisers, employers, and etc.). The deadline for completing data collection for the Class of 2018 was December 31, 2018. Definitions Response/Knowledge Rate - the percent of graduates for which the CDC has reasonable and verifiable information concerning the graduates’ post-graduation career activities Career Outcomes/Placement Rate - the percent of graduates who are working, continuing education, serving in military or volunteering, for those seeking placement. Working - consists of those accepted full time employment or part-time employment. Continuing Education - those continuing education at graduate or professional schools. Still Looking - consists of those seeking employment or seeking continuing education, and planning to continue education but not yet enrolled. Not Seeking, Other - consists of those not seeking employment or graduate school acceptance, have other plans after graduation.
