Beta-Blockers can make allergy symptoms worse; nasal congestion, asthma and allergic bronchitis are most likely to worsen. Beta-Blockers may also increase the risk of serious allergic reactions such as insect stings and allergy treatments. They can make the medical treatment of serious allergic reactions more difficult. WHAT IF YOU ARE TAKING BETA-BLOCKERS? Discuss with the doctor who prescribed the Beta-Blocker medicine whether there is an alternative available since you are taking allergy injections (ACE-inhibitors or calcium-channel blockers). DO NOT STOP taking your Beta-Blocker without consulting with your medical doctor. Stopping these medications without instruction from your doctor is not safe. Remember: Patients on Beta-Blockers will need to change their medicine in order to have allergy test and shots. Notify the allergy department if you are taking a Beta-Blocker medicine. Also, inform our office as soon as possible about any changes in your medical condition and/or current medicines. 40 North Grand Ave., Suite 104, Ft.
